The question is will the replacement hold up better than the first one? I assume you have to return the first one so you can't use for parts?

hope so! time will tell, i have confidence, the 2012 had about 2000 hours on it. the original unit ...warranty would not be there if stuff like
this did not happen , things break... protocol is to return for inspection, assement and replacement if warranted. i'm sure grateful for the outcome.
i kept the bar and line set.

Banged out several sessions on this new unit.
An actual full session strapless surf, amazing how much easier it is with decent power. Turns are so much flow friendly with solid juice. That is a
FireWire sweet potato 6' quad Finn.

And about 2 hours on sweet azz trampa

And yesterday TT foam party deluxe with ramp boosting to no end ...then the lightening shuts all down

pretty typical off shore west wind for us. very gusty , some dead spots. some gust would just snatch you off the water. if its sunny it tends to
be smoother, this was cloudy with chance of flurries. sometimes it just comes in rough.

deep into winter sessions, nice blast yesterday 1-4pm
friend wore a GPS , we had 36 miles of cold azz water ...max speed 32mph!

all TT action, he was on a 10m, i was on 9m

42 degrees start, water 52 degrees. data on the scene is weak may have shadowed meter a bit. on a 9m usually means 25kts plus for me, it was super
gusty off shore WNW in calibogue sound.

max speed really surprised me!

I hung on my 9m the whole session but there where a few stretches about 20min each that were pure madness, effortless crazy big airs, i wanted to
stop and get my 8m shorty setup but i just held on , the current push with incoming tide was so powerful really needed extra power, then when things
really heated up EVERY punch through was a gut check with 30-40ft boost off the smallest piece of chop i could manage to pick out and if it was 6 ft
roller coming in ramp path it was down right violent if i had even a little speed ...insane! praying for a lull of 30!

trust your experience! , just like i trust the fear that guides me...sometimes preparation just takes time to embrace more scope of the elements.
besides you said "YET" you know exactly where you are going with skill and experience.
run the numbers on the risk ..then hit the gas! preparation starts paying !

KK the rpm 2015 is the shizzle, no doubt , my experience on the first one shouldn't derail you. they backed it up 100% !
amazing units , would buy another without a thought. this is a great kite that EVERYBODY tries to put out a similar iteration.

one more time , this time offshore AND flat! 3-5pm, also 2 windsurfers in the crew doing wickedly fast passes,,,and fun was had by all
the look, slack low to rising tide, coming in from the West for offshore. http://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboa...
9m + TT

with bonus time on the fish (foil) board , the straps are just in the way. fun board, way more nimble than my sweet potato firewire SB definitely
see whiy folks like it.

super session today , beautiful emerald green ocean indicating spring is blooming! chased out to a running sailboat headed into tybee rhodes roughly
12mile trip, to see it was a about a 50' ketch. beautiful day!
12m RPM hit all the high notes , sunny, rolled up but not too rough. 12-4pm

data on the scene,
 https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashbo...
couple more weeks and the wetsuit crap will be over!
