Ahhh, seems like they missed the nevada desert by just a tiny bit! LOL, seems like that's what our deserts are generally used for, nuclear dumps and just general lowlifes that can't seem to get their trash to the curb on trash day and would rather just litter...

Draggin Jeans are exactly that. Motorcycle pants disguised as jeans. :) Nothing flashy. They look almost exactly like jeans, too. And yes we do use many many acronyms... I try to avoid them, but typing out "leading edge inflatable" or "fixed bridle foil" every time is annoying. :P They're easy to figure out.

Here's a few very common ones:

LEI = Leading edge inflatable (as mentioned before)

SLE = Supported leading edge (basically the same thing as the above one)

AoA = Angle of attack... don't even bother asking about that one yet x]

FBF = Fixed bridle foil

OBE = Out of buggy experience

LE = Leading edge

TE = Trailing edge

TS = Top skin

PLK = Peter Lynn Kiteboarding

That's all I can think of for now. There are many, many more. And many, many words/whole phrases you will not understand... like suicide leash and oh shlt loop. :) More on that when we get there. Feel free to ask questions.

EDIT:

Lol. ATB = All terrain board

ABT = above the bar trim

BBT = below the bar trim

Kite names have different abbreviations, depending on context. E.G. BII BIII BIV usually means Flexifoil Blades. VII means Venom II, etc.

You'll get the hang of it.

Yep, that covered a lot of the ones I was seeing for sure! The funny part is now that I know them, they're still a foreign language but like you said, it'll come with time.

I'm going to meet up with the parents for dinner tonight and then try and get over to the park after. I tore my spare room apart looking for the trainer kite my friend said she left in there with her riding gear but I didn't see it. I'll have to call her today and see if she was drunk or what... So I may or may not be showing up with a kite tonight... LOL

So my internet was down at my house friday night but I went over and drove around the sam boyd area anyways in hopes of just spotting some kites in the air and had no luck. The fields at one side had soccer going on and the other end/direction there was a ball game going on and a couple making out in the other field. I did see a small group of people kinda off by themselves near a uhaul truck though. Was that you guys? If so, at least I know where you are and I'll swing by to say hello this friday night if I have time before leaving the next morning for my race. I was in a little blue hatchback that did a drive by... LOL
