OUCH, that one was low.
NOTE, all CAR RENTALS are in one place now. doesnt matter what company you book with, just jump on the car rental shuttle at the airport and it will
take you there.
Once your stuff is on the playa it pretty much stays there for the week. 80% of De Dutch are wake and already on the drylake. Im a late riser so I
just call whoever and see if they left yet. We're all family so getting a car pool or holding onto the back of some vehicle is possible.
Those that dare you can walk from Hotel to Playa, takes about 1 to 2 hours (bring water). I have never done this but IF I see you walking Ill take you
tandem to:
A. close to the Power Lines (entrance)
B. camp
i like priceline.com because its like gambling I guess.
1. take a look at the current rates
2. its better to bid for the car than to buy outright
3. when you bid, start super low, and move up $1 per try. sooner or later it accepts.
De Dutch + 2 Canadians got an SUV from Mar. 26 to April 5 for something like 320 Euros.

In case you are wondering ... NO ... nobody lets Ricardo drive a car. No person in the car feels safe when the driver is too small to see over the
steering wheel :saint:
But seriously there are always people driving back and forth to buggy camp. A ride would be easy to come by if you needed one. Just hang around the
parking lot and look for someone getting into the most nasty, dirty, dusty car you have seen ... chances are they are headed for the playa.

I like to drive down the middle. I find the look on the drivers faces rather enjoyable.

The roundabouts make since when you drive on the left. Driving around them on the right seems weird

Even though they drive on the wrong side of the road, :frog: I will say that while I was there, the drivers in UK were better than I'd ever seen.
Very good lane discipline on the (UK word for interstate highway). The roundabouts even with 3 lanes, seemed to work seamlessly.

When I go to visit Fiona in Scotland and she comes here - we both say just remember that as the driver you always want to be to the centre of the
road.
They've been adding roundabouts all over the place in the area I live in Ontario but they are far smaller than the UK and then there are crosswalks
and nobody knows how to enter and exit properly - getting better but still the number one place for accidents (here, not in the UK).
What amazed me driving in the desert was when we missed a turn once and drove up to Fort Irwin and there is one really long flat straight stretch (10
miles long?) and the huge number of crosses indicating accidents - seemed like every few hundred yards on what looks like an easy road. Speed/falling
asleep/weather?

I believe motorway is what you are looking for Bob...70mph unless otherwise stated, normally 3 lanes wide, sometimes 2 sometimes 4 lanes

Hey Guys! I know this is pretty late notice and im sorry for that!
Unfortunatly, its my final year of University and i have a Business Presentation on the day the other UK riders fly out, so i am arriving in Las Vegas
on 24th March at 3pm.
I was wondering if there was anyone heading to the Pre-event at Harper lake on this day, an whether they would have space for me and the two bags i
will be flying with. (my buggy and other kit will be there already)
Cheers guys. CANT WAIT to catch up with everyone again this year!
