Tdude,

My son and I have been talking about trying this for a couple of years now. Never figured out how to get a ship schedule into CHS harbor or perhaps Georgetown. I think most of the videos are taken in the gulf (Mexico)which has predominately flat water. I'm not sure if it would work in the Atlantic but perhaps from the jetty on in for a couple of miles?
If you can find a ship schedule, I've got the boat and the "want to".

Hopefully the ship would keep the G Whites at bay.

The waves are in galveston bay, the bay is only 10-12 ft deep with a ship channel that is 55+ ft. The waves are formed as the wake of the ship goes over the shoals(less than 7 ft deep). The only way to ride the waves are to take a boat and be patient. We have one of the largest ports so we have lots of traffic.I do have a few launches that get a few good waves depending on ship size, tides and wind. I have hit a few 8ft ones out there. It makes you look around to make sure that your still in the bay and not the gulf................aj

I guess that's what I was thinking, that the wake would get swallowed up in the swell out in the Atlantic. Inside the Charleston or Georgetown harbor might work, but the ships I've seen in the past were, for obvious reasons, not generating much wake once inside the jetty.
I know these ports don't have as much traffic as Texas (everythings bigger, right?) so unless we had a schedule we might sit for a while. That's why rod & reels were invented. :tumble:
