Looking for advice on a good seat harness. I do 95% of my kiting in a buggy. Mostly high speed, no freestyle. need a seat harness. Problem is I've got a nice padded seat harness. and my rear has well, expanded over the years. Needless to say my nice padded harness no longer squeezes between the frame rails to sit properly. I need a harness that is thin, non padded, possibly straps that works ok. Something that will allow my expanded bottom line to sit proper.

Buggy currently fits great without a harness, I have been anchoring the kite to the buggy, but really don't feel this is proper. Some beaches and groups prohibit this as well. I would also like to get in and out of the buggy at will.


Any ideas out there?

Funny this is the third time lately Ive read about one of us needing a bigger harness ?
Does power kiting cause weight gain? I've lost 20lbs carrying gear up and down and back and forth. Not to mention preferring to bug rather than eat. :D

Have you considered rock climbing, rappelling, or fire rescue harnesses? There are a lot of harnesses out there that have a whole lot less overall material than a proper kite buggy seat harness. All of these will of course lack convenient means to attach a spreader bar.

I'm one of the people Ed is joking about that recently moved up from a size M to a size L in the Peter Lynn Divine harness. A right nice harness but I suspect this is the sort of harness you are finding a little too, err, volumetrically challenging in that fine Sysmic S1 buggy of yours. Have you considered the Peter Lynn Base harness? The fine folks at A Wind of Change sell it:

That's the most minimalist harness I'm aware of that would easily accept a spreader bar and come in a L / XL size for a man of your self-perported stature. The other well known basic harness is the Ozone Access. Highly adjustable one-size-fits-some, but I've owned it for snow kiting and don't think it will work for you.

Remember, this is an S1 we're talking about here. Might be worth missing a few deserts over coupled with a few more flights of stairs. I'm bigger than I was when I was younger too, but this would be a good goal to fit snuggly but comfortably again in your ride. I'm not ribbing you, just prodding you a bit. I've learned that loosing weight is actually quite easy. Heck, over my lifetime I've lost hundreds of pounds (thank you Mark Twain). Good luck!

Thanks, that PL Base Harness looks perfect. In my defense, I had to get out of buggying for a number of years for health and other reasons. Just getting back into it now. The kite lifestyle is actually a big part of my lose weight and get healthy plan. Just need the harness to do it comfortably.

Then of course the slight wind issue. having bought new kite gear of course the wind has now shut off almost completely, I am remembering why I had a 13m Century in years gone by.

Welcome back to kite buggying, even if it is a squeeze. I found that when I made the transition to depower that I no longer needed the side rail padding which freed up a few inches in the seat.
Just as well really, as I've expanded too.

I have to get used to that. When I was in it last fixed bridal was king, I had a full setup of race kites. Nothing touched them speed wise, FS had just released the original Speed 17m. I had a 13M Century and a 11m Combat. Had a chance to fly Jon's 16m JoJo.

It seems now days the Depowerable seem to be keeping up though. It may be worth changing over, would probably need less kites overall as well.
