I would like to try a Z bridle when my NASAsia kite comes.
I don't mind 9.90 EU for the string, but I'm having a hard time with 36.00 EU for the shipping. Is there another way?

Just make one. Tons of info on here about that. Randy will chime in.

Ian is the resident z-bridle expert, but he hasn't been around that much lately. They don't seem to help that much with some NPW's, such as the NPW-9, though they work quite well with the NPW-21. If you are planning on using it with the kite you are buying from China (which I think is an NPW-5) it may be worth a try. The link below shows how they can be built - look at the end of the plans for the NPW 5. The main issue is getting the line lengths correct for each leg of the z - bridle. You can put knots into the lines and by trial and error find the correct balance points. (These may move from day to day, however, which is the problem with using them on the 9,s.)

The main advantage of a z-bridle is that it locks in the brake position so that it is less likely you would over brake and make the kite backstall.

What I believe Ed is referring to is Born-Kite NASA Star-3s. Here is the listing of Z-bridles from Steffen's site and the Euro costs line up with what Ed appears to be describing:

yes indeed, but without seeing his pig tail connections on his china nasa it may or may not be as easy to install or make one.

Maybe a picture will help when you get the kite.

Alrightythen, "NASAsia" wasn't a typo. I had thought it was. I just tried to search for "NASAsia kite" through the Google search engine but didn't immediately find anything. Thanks for the clarification Sean.

Ha, I missed the "NASAsia" altogether on this thread. Only reason I knew it was a made in china version was because he had started another thread not long ago where he told of buying one.

I forgot, His is set up as a 4 line from factory. I would not think it would be hard at all to make your own z bridle. In fact I would prefer it over the Born-kite brand one because your pig tail connections are most likely different and it would stink to wait around and pay shipping for something you would have to most likely modify.
