Eldorado Valley Dry Lake Bed session thread
I know I know, there's a bunch of ruts out there, BUT....I know there's a few people from the Las Vegas Valley here and that some of you fly at Sam
Boyd on Friday nights. Summer is coming and daylight hours are lasting longer and I was just curious why I never see anyone out @ Eldorado Valley Dry
Lake Bed by Boulder City? It's ony 15 min. further than Sam Boyd and even with ruts there's still PLENTY more room than there (there's some fairly
decent size smooth area), even with the 4 wheelers out and about. Mostly it's a good weekday spot. Plus, the wind is much cleaner out there. I live
close by in Old Henederson and am available for playa surface and wind condition reports.
I guess you guys probably just prefer to go to the larger beds instead, but as this is my first "playa" I am content.Others around the country have
much less to work with. Like I said, was just curious seeing to how it's so close to Sam Boyd.

Capt'n Ron is usually out on Eldorado whenever the wind is blowing. I go out there from time to time depending on which way everyone is deciding to
go the night before (Friday).
The best place we have found is on the far southern end of the lake bed, once you pass under the power lines there is a cattle guard entrance onto the
lake bed. From there it is about a1/4 mile drive and your set to go. This is where Capt' Ron is always at and the smoothest place. Most of the
quads and others never venture down that far so it doesn't get torn up nearly as bad as the northern end. You gotta watch out for those ruts for
sure....they're butt breakers!
Let me know what time your heading out there and I would love to hook up with ya. Maybe we can drag some of the others out with us.

session was ok i guess being that it was my third time ever on a board. I went to Sam Boyd but didn't know where to really go. I just went to the
soccer field adjacent to the stadium.
Man was it hot. Didn't care tho, nice breeze blew the whole day. I got to test out my strop/pulley rig. It worked great. The real bummer was when it
came time to pack up. I found a bridle line on my kite ripped straight off. My only kite, a 3meter, is now broken. Know of any places that'll do a
repair? If not I guess it's time to buy a new kite if I ever wanna go back out again.
