| Funny kite related things...

Guy stopped me on the beach and asked me about my beige kite. He was talking about my Speed3 21... maybe I should wash it.
Took another box to the post office today, contents "kite". The clerk asked me if I "hand-make them, because I'm always sending them". I wish!

Hmm...
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two... |

LOL! I get people all the time coming up and asking what it is I am doing around here. I have been known as the parachute lady by the kids at one park
and have been confused for paragliding and parasailing in another. I love the look I get when I tell them it's a kite..... You know that look.. the
one a dog gives when it hears a weird noise and tilts it's head to one side. HAHA! |

Oh yeah, the paraglider thing... "Are you going to fly?" Well, yes... kinda.
Forgot one - the word for "kite" in Japanese is "tako"... which is the same word for "octopus". So when I fill out the postal form - in English - they
ask me what's in the box and I say... "Tako." :o

HA! I knew Tako was octopus, did not know it was also the word for kite. Learn something new everyday SO next time I go out, I'm gonna tell my friends I'm off to fly my octopus! I'm weird as it is, they will probably
just shrug and say "OK...have fun!" :D LOL! |

I know you all have heard this one before, but I was asked last spring where the engine is on the buggy.... "It's the monster parachute like kite in
the sky... Duh!" I'm going to take a nap now |

A couple of times when I was out with one of my NPW's using it on water with my SUP, people have said "Nice parachute" or similar.
Not exactly kite related, but not too far off. I done a lot of land sailing with a windsurf sail on a landboard. One time I was over at the park
rigging the sail and a kid comes up and asks me "Is that what I think it is?" So I said "I don't know - what do you think it is?" He say "A hang
glider!"

Had a guy at a park tell me I couldn't fly my paraglider there. As he was such an expert, I invited him to jump off the nearby hill with my 3.5m Cult.
He thought maybe I didn't understand his Japanese, so he got the town council to send down the whipping-gaijin. I pointed out to him the list of
banned activities on the park signage, which didn't cover the kite but did all the people walking their dogs.
That repeated situation. and gusty wind is pretty much why I haven't been on a land board in years...
