Just saw a bunch of guys in Quebec City skiing on the St Lawrence. I tried it briefly and am hooked. Before I buy (and I definitely will!)

I would like to know more about the difference between the kites with the long lines and the short lines?

Also what is the difference between the stacked kites and the regular?

Also what is the difference between the inflating and flat surface types?

Although I am a beginner I have lots of experience with hang gliding, paragliding, fighter kites, model gliders, etc so my learning curve should be straight up.

Regardless of model of kite one is flying, using long lines slows the speed and control of the kite and allows the kite to reach higher up for smoother wind if the ground wind is bad. Short lines increase the kite speed and control response.

Stacked kites pull harder and fly slower than singles (usually 2 line kites).

Where would be a good source of technical info. IE a book.

No need to reinvent the wheel. I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the info on the net. A book gives me a place to put everything in perspective.
