I'm headed up to
Eagle Nest Lake State Park, near Angel Fire, NM tomorrow and Wednesday (
Google Map). This is the location of the old SW Snowkite Event. I'll be parked by one of the boat ramps in the main campground, and have a
windsock and such setup at a prep area. Unfortunately forecast shifted from the weekend so I'm looking to be solo, with hopefully a couple people from
here in CO meeting up with me.
A friend of mine posted this pic from Saturday (they were ice fishing)
Ice is around 12" thick at minimum, and the snow on top is 6-8" powder on top of compacted/melted/etc snow, everywhere with considerably bigger drifts
throughout the lake.
Here's the wind forecast for Angel Fire Airport (10 or so miles to the south and in a canyon so gusts there read/forecast about 30-50% bigger than on
the lake)
