Stacking kites
Hi guys,
I know what is stacking kites ( thanks Carltb)
But what is the real interest of that ? is it just for style or for using in light wind ?
If i stack PL synergy 12 with a PL synergy 19 what is the resulting surface? is it possible ? for what kind of winds ?
is it risky ?
How to do that ? may i have to use extension kit for line or can i make my own extension kit for lines ?
Greetings, Xavier

I'd say its done for style. I used to stack fuels 7,9,13 for fun. Larger kites go on top. The 12m might struggle in light wind and become a burden on
the 19m. Making up your own stacking lines is easy. Keep them short though otherwise there will be a delay in response time. Is it risky ? Yeah man!
go for it. :D

I just do it for fun on light wind days and a good rule of thumbs is to stay under 10mph
when I stack 3 kites there isn't really any lift but theres a lot of pull especially when they are climbing
I use 3m extensions so if you are flying with the nav bar then you could use 23+3 to stack 2 kites

You said on light wind days. Does it give you better low wind performance or is it just something that's not a good idea to do on windier days?

That 's the good question rofer.
i'm sure it's not safe using it in windy day cause like carl said its a lot of power with light wind so with high wind....
But like you ask (it was my first question) maybe it's a good ( and cool) solution for light wind

if there is wind then you only really need 1 kite!! lol
ive never stacked kites in any real wind and I wouldn't want to try to be honest

in the early days when we stacked a bunch of phantoms and then later some guerrillas there was more power in the stroke but very slow and very drawn
out power stroke - you still need a decent wind to get them inflated and launched so you don't really gain anything like Carl said, if the wind is up
use one kite. (and launching a stack can be messy to launch clean - most we did was 4)

Stacking looks awesome in the air, but from what I've seen, it is just not practical at all. We have giant kites that fly and pull in 5mph wind
already. Just for show in my opinion.
