depower conversion

I would like to convert my 6.5 Alien fixed bridle foil to a depower setup.
Is it as simple as connecting front lines to back via line and pulley and connect to bar with chicken loop?
I've been flying my tubes on land and really like the handling,
Love my 12M manta but it gets too big at times for high where I live in gusty NM.

Your 6.5 fixed bridle is likely to pull just as hard as your 12m. You might want a smaller kite.

The short answer is “no”. Typically depowers have 2 pulleys with a line running from A to Z with the C lines on a pulley through that line and then a line from A to C with the B lines on that pulley. I had my Yeti (1 one pulley depower) customized last summer to a 2 pulley mixer and while that kite was already a depowerable, the modification / customization was described as “extensive” and the adjusting of the line lengths and mixer as “more complicated than we thought”.

Can you convert any kite? Sure but that doesn’t mean it will fly better and its not as easy as just adding a pulley and a line. You need to play with the settings and lengths and mixer to make sure the kite flies the way you want it too. You could try sending it to someone like John at Powerzone as he does these types of mods but I think he’d need some pics and a bridle plan to let you know how doable it might be.

Depower Quiver: 14m Gin Eskimo, 10m Gin Eskimo III, 6m Gin Yeti, 4.5m Gin Yeti (custom bridle and mixer)
Fixed Bridle Quiver: MAC Bego 400, JOJO ET Instinct 2.5 & 5.5, Lil Devil 1.5, Sting 1.2

I know nothing about DP, but I thought this was a cool mod for the Flow anyway

i have recently aquired a 5sqm flow exactly for that purpose: make it a depower kite for high wind. first need to get cheap pulleys / rings and some thin kite bridle lines though... (1:2 setup using a single pulley per sid is probably suboptimal, better would be 1:4 with two pulleys per side)

the flow indeed has a nice, autostable profile:

Cross Kites Sonic 3, 5m
Ozone Flow 2, 3, 4, 5m
Ace II 4, 5m
NAPKA-US24
4, 5, 6m ATB landsurfer. Custom longboard deck
Buggy: VTT Black Widow v2.0

well, thanks for the input, sounds like I should just look for another tube rather than reinvent a foil.
