Flysurfer Speed 2 12m (Vs Ozone Frenzy FX 11m).

I fear I may already know the answer to this question.. "The flysurfer is better in every way"...? Or something like that. But I'm looking for a bit more detail if possible.

At the moment I have an 11m Ozone Frenzy FX ('08-'09). It's my only depower, and my biggest kite / light wind engine. I've never really considered a Flysurfer cause I thought they would be way out of my budget. However a Speed 2 12m isn't as much as I thought it would be (£350-380). I am looking to make the move to primarily using depowers as soon as finances allow.

I'm really tempted, I love the thought of having a speed, BUT to afford it I would have to sell my frenzy, plus paying a bit extra on top. (Unless someone wants to but it for me ?? lol..) It isn't a big deal, just will take a bit or a re-shuffle of my kit.

(Another, slightly less financially viable option, but an option none the less, especially if you think its a good one, is to sell my smaller FBs and buy the speed 2, but I assume there would be a lot of overlap with the 11m frenzy, and I would then be lacking a high wind kite).

I'm wondering if you ever so helpful guys can give me a bit of info on the Speed 2 12m, and how it would compare to my frenzy.
The main thing that concerns me is that as far as I know the 12m speed is the light wind size in the set, so I would once again be lacking a light wind kite, which isn't ideal with summer coming.

To give you some background, I buggy on beaches (have played with the idea of trying out a board again). I would like to start doing some freestyle / jumping, but in the mean time I am very happy cruising around :D So I want a kite that has the capability to do both of these well. (Cruise safely without trying to lift me constantly, as well as lifting me and my bug when I want to be lifted!)

If I could get some opinions on my situation and on the different kite combos I would really appreciate it !

Thanks,
Tim

Since you aren't planning on hitting the water soon, there's no real reason to move from the Frenzy to the Speed... your Frenzy will give you nearly the same power as the speed2 12, nearly the same low-end as well.

Frenzy won't ever require as much tuning as the speed. (mixer tests...woooo)

Frenzy could be parked for fwe minutes on ground without any problem. The FS are closed cells and required more fine tips to land alone.

hey i have 12m P4 and use it on the water a ton , actually prefer it over the 12m RPM 2012, FS boost/float by far better and has much better lower end with crazy insta- pop. and quick relaunch off the water. the SPEED 2 will have a fraction more power for boost/pop. i don't think the difference between the frenzy and S2 will that much , prolly not worth the $. but FS speed 2 12m is a supreme series and the 12m size is choice for just about anything.

ah the "I think I want to buy a flysurfer" stage that all kiters seem to experience evry now and then if they don't have one.

if you want to fly depower and you already have a 11m then I would just get a 7m frenzy to sit below it. I don't really see much advantage in replacing the 11 with a speed or having both as then you have nothing for high winds.

I would try one before you buy to see if it suits you. I wanted a big speed for ages until I actually flew one recently. I didn't really like it. I found the bar too long and the response too slow. i hated the depower system and despite what most flysurfer owners say I found the set up and pack down a real faff. The guy I borrowed it from absolutely loves it though

I think it comes down to personal preference when you are talking about 2 very good kites like the speed and the frenzy.

It's true, it's true... They seem so nice though!
You're probably right, I'll have a look for a 7m.

Thanks guys :)
