Hey all,

I want to make a line mount for my bullet style camera. I had a go this morning, its rather crude and I'm not sure how successfully it will be.
Heres a pic:


My thinking was that the camera would go on the platform on the right (I'd attach it with a screw into the socket on the camera, and some straps/ elastic to be sure) Then the line would go in-between the two bits of plastic by the screws, which would then be tightened.

What do you think, reckon it would work ? Any ideas or advice, especially if anyone has built one themselves.

By "line" are you referring to flying line?

A "doodle" of how this is supposed to be attached to your flying setup would help.

I also thought I'd put a small amount of rubber / something grippy in between the two bits of plastic where the Kite lines go so when the screws are tightened they're less likely to slip.

it wont work. all it will do is spin if it is only attached to one line

Damn.. Someone else mentioned that on RC.

Do you reckon I could lessen the effect if I put a small strap / spare bit of kite line from the mount to the other power line ?

Is price the only thing keeping your from springing for a CamRig GoPro HD3 Line Mount?

Sam, Price is a factor yes. But I did't get a gopro as well. I decided on the Polaroid XS100:

I also got a lense replacement kit, after seeing that you said that's a plus of the go pro. (And a micro SD card, which hasn't arrived yet so I cant test the cam annoyingly !)

Carl, Is that rig as simple as it looks ?? It's cool. how much do those PVC pipes cost ? And I assume that will only work on FBs ? How do you stop it slipping up and down the lines ?? (down mainly!)

All those mounts are designed to go on depower kites - even the whacky PVC pipe mounts. they go on the center lines, which don't move.

They'll probably work on an Ozone bar... but if you throw the safety and release to the rear lines, my bet is the camera is going to get catapulted downwind LOL

The best mounts keep the mass of the camera centered between the lines AND the mounting points. This gives minimal oscillation when filming, without the need for the horrendous out-riggers :o

Reckon I could attach this (which the camera came on in the packaging) to the PCV pipes to make a mount somehow ?

Nice camera. Its a bit more discreet than a gopro. I have a Hero 2 which I'm really pleased with. More so since seeing the various problems with the Hero 3. they are a bit chunky though!

I've not run it from 100% to 0% yet. According to the website battery life is 2.5 hours though. Its fairly average I think. Wouldn't mind another hour or so though. And unlike go pro etc there isn't a battery pack / replacement you can get. Just have to recharge it.
