Hey all so I'm thinking of getting an inflatable kite . My question is if I fly mainly in the 4m range for a fixed bridal what size do I look for And what kind do you all like? I'm looking at a 9 m caution mayhem is that a good kite? I'd like it for my atb . Thanks

Why get a tube if your not going in the water....wouldn't you like a sweet dp foil?? All the cool kids are using them.....my fav part of owning them is being able to leave them in the car thru the summer w/out thinking about cooking the bladders and fitting more kites in the car as well...and yea, I wanna be cool too

Depending on the model and AR, I would compare a 4m FB to anywhere from 8-12m Delta/Bow/SLE inflatable kite(or foil).

That would be just fine of a kite as entry to depow LEI as long as it's in reasonable condition. Flying a LEI on land, I don't close the spar valves on a one-pump system, or put the 'stays' on my out valve, so that hard ground impacts will jellyfish pressure into the spars or merely pop the out valve rather then have ruptures, since you're not needing an inflated wing to self-rescue.

The main reason I was thinking inflatable is price.. I found a few older models up for sale
That are reasonable .. I'd love to get into depower I just can't afford it.. I do have a like new viper s 6.8 if someone wants to work a deal .

I own 3 LEI depowers for exactly the same reason and I used to fly a 4m foil (fb) prior to switching to depower. It's quite a bit different approach, I've found. I primarily flew my 4m in about 5-15mph, Andy to fly in those winds, I think an 8m is too small for an LEI. I have a 13, an 8 and a 6. honestly, to replace the 4m, I would get a 9m -11m. The 13 is awesome snowkiting in 4mph, but it gets scary at 15 (for me, and I'm a noob).

If youre inland, 9-11 would be great, but you'll need more if you're in water. Just make sure you test the safety releases first thing on every kite you buy (on a low wind day). You're not really testing the equipment as much as you're testing you're trust in the system that'll save your ass. Hope that helps.
