Dakine harness question

I've been using an older Neil Pryde/ Cabrinha seat harness for years, size small. Getting tired of the lack of support and leg straps that pinch the jewels when boosting.

Just picked up a Dakine Fusion size medium with 6" bar at a great price. Tried on a small, but could barely get the velcro waist band connected with jeans on - will be tougher with snowpants. My gut says the Medium will be good in winter, but loose in summer with board shorts. The small seems really constricted for winter. Anybody got an opinion which size to err toward?

I have two harnesses....just to put this in perspective for you....

Dakine fusion harness in a large.... I have a 31 in waist....

Dakine Divine harness in a small....I have a 31 in waist....

Fusion I can adjust to both winter and summer activities and from what I've read over the years these run smaller then stated
Divine harness is borderline for me....I probably should of gotten the extra small....so these run a bit big

Sometimes you have to buy a couple before you get it right or have different ones for different applications....You may also be able to go to an event and try a couple before you buy....

So to answer your question...It varies...sometimes you may be able to add or subtract some webbing to make it work..I'm sure some other members can chime in and help a little more. I'm just pointing out the two sizes for my one waist size.

Thanks for the tips. My waist is about 31-32" . Seemed like the stated sizes didn't have much to do with how it really fit. I was thinking if it felt too sloppy for summer I might just get another one. Most of my riding is in winter, and the small just felt too snug in snowpants.

The Fusion feels like your locked tight into a bucket, and the spreader bar stays snug at the waist. The hook on the Cabrinha harness always lifts up and away from my waist, even with all the straps cranked tight.

Hey

If it helps I have a Dakine Fusion in Large. I believe I used it in the winter and I have a 32 inch waist. I think I had a fair bit of room to go smaller but not much to expand any further with ski pants. Anyway as you can tell I haven't used the harness in probably 3 or 4 years. I just moved on to waist harnesses and have never used it. If it makes things easier for you I'll give it to you just pay shipping. There is nothing wrong with the harness just a bit of rub marks on the butt from getting dragged. I've been going to get rid of it for a while as it is taking up space. If your interested and will use it its yours and you can get the small for summer. Let me know if your interested.

I'm 6' 220, I use the Large Fusion.

Today I had a student that dressed out at 270lbs. Managed to get him in my harness with an extension on the straps. For me the large is snug with my ski gear. Have tried the XL and it wasn't snug enough. Not horrible but not great. Too big in the summer tho.

Don't know if that helps.

Yeah, I find the Fusion to be a big fit - I'm in the XXL and I'm thinking it's too small... the spreader bar is only a few inches away from the strap buckles. And I've lost weight since I started buying the Fusion...

I had to buy a Mystic harness in Thailand... it's an XL but I can barely close the "power belt" velcro strap - the bugger keep popping open when riding too.

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

John -

Thanks for the awesome offer. Just rode the medium and it is great, so I guess I own it. Some other fortunate kiter can take you up on it. Don't know why I waited so long to get a beetr harness. Just cheap, I guess.
