Slingshot B2

Who has one of these? Who has flown one of these?

I picked one up cheap just so on marginal or sub par wind days I could get some time in flying a kite on a bar in regards to maybe being useful as practice for flying LEI kites.

All my hours flying smaller nimble foils on handles kinda doesn't translate very much to flying what feels like an aircraft carrier which those 7/9/11m LEI's feel like in comparison.

What kind of useful flying drills or techniques or other practice maneuvers could I do with this B2 in regards to using it for LEI practice? So far I've just spent time walking back and forth across the wind window sining the kite and also spent time with the kite bringing it down the edge of the window as if to land it.

I've got time on the water with LEI's; but it's been a while now and I've got this in the meantime.

RTZ,

I would practice some loops. Since large kitesurfing kites on bars generally do not turn as fast as small foils on handles (since you can apply brakes as well as pull the handles to steer), you will need to get used to the larger turning radius of a kite on a bar. You will have to plan to start your loops much higher. Even my 6m Pansh Ace can pretty much loop with no radius, but no kite on a bar has ever done that for me. You can also do some figure eights with it.

Jason- you gotta demo a more pure "c" kite....the slingshot fuels pivot on a dime and produce power like a propeller when you loop em.... SLE/Delta's are definitely much slower though!

RTz- practice practice practice! Sines, uploops, downloops... often on water you'll be doing stuff that will leave you way overpowered on land, but moving nicely on water....

Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

Practice flying one handed.

Try and control the kite along the edge without even looking at it for long periods of time. Do this while sitting .

Learn to do " downloops " turning the kite down and then accross the window in a big power stroke.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
