The lines wrap around each other and the coating on the lines allow them to still slide against each other and maintain control of the individual
kites.
There is a lot of wrapping of lines from other kites during the Revolution team & megaflies, but the kites still stay airborne and in control.

Interesting, but Ray Bethell seems to not tangle the kites in this video. At 0:47 you can see the kite lines without tangles. At 1:27 and 4:20 you can
see the three kites flying away from eachother, impossible if they were tangled. A little after 2:50 you can see him lining up the kites one behind
the other with no tangles in the lines. 
Too many kites, boards, and etceteras.
