This is my most flown kite. I've had a GPS for a while now and I notice that more often then not; this kite tends to cruise at about 18-20mph. In a
long stretch with good wind; I can do 32mph. I haven't experimented with sining the kite yet to see if I can get more speed out of it. Any guesses
to just how much?
I'm thinking about seeing what typical speeds I see with the 2m Hornet II and Beamer V next.
Usually if it's windy enough to warrant a 2m; it's also gusty enough to bar using anything bigger(for me atleast).
What kind of speeds do you see with your 2m kites?
My 2.6m viper has taken me into the 40mph range in winds in the 20s
After that my rear axle always seems to break free. I ride a short axle most of the time. With a heavier buggy and a longer axle I can hold down a LOT
more wind.
I think the main reason our speeds are so low rtz is that the field we fly in is so small. I will very soon be able to record my times as well. (The
GPS's are in the mail) Also another reason is actually your buggy. Your bug is rated at like 25 to 30 mph much more than that you have to much
sideways pull to hold it down. Your side rails are also fairly short. If you try to put the kite down to much closer to the ground you would be yanked
over the side rail. If you had a larger buggy it would probably help you out alot. If you dont want to disasemble the buggy every time I suggest
getting a trailer hitch for your car and having Craig/OKCkiteguy design you a hitch rack for your car. The hitch and addapter would cost about 200ish
for everything. I think getting a larger buggy would really help out alot. A Libre, VTT, or something along those lines. Hey a NABX you can check out
a PTW he is bringing like 4. If I remeber correctly.

I have an E-Trex GPS, but I have found an app on my Droid called "My Tracks" and it is awesome. Very good GPS but also records all your variables
such as distance, speed, average speed, max speed, elevation etc... And then you can overlay that on top of Google Maps - then e-mail it to yourself
for later viewing as well.
If you don't have a GPS, My Tracks may be perfect for you...oh, and if you are on a Droid, it is free.
When I fly with my 2.5 IMP I find the kite cruises along very nicely around 18-22mph (from handheld GPS mounted to buggy). So far, my top speed with
that kite is 25mph.
We understand all that is not mathematics through the world, but we understand the world through mathematics
I think it has more to do with the angle of the wind. Having it come from behind at 45 degrees over your shoulder will give you plenty of speed -
particularly in 25-30 knots with the 2m kite. You won't get the big sideways pull either......until you head back....heh heh heh. All my best times
have come running downwind in more than 20knots. Even got my original 2.5m imp up to 58kph on the claypan at Kingston in 28 knots but the kite was
starting to do some pretty weird things in those winds!
One of our local crew (I say local - he drives from far northern Queensland all the way to South Australia attending all of the gatherings) posted an
87 kph in a std PL comp recently (std axle too). Again, it was a good strong downwind run then a big gust to boost things along nicely.
Just this week I got to 52.8 mph on my 2m HQ Toxic. There was some more to be had if the wind had been smoother. New Pb for me though. Location and
wind condition as well as your buggy have an impact on your top speed.

And lets not forget the touch of turbo. If you are flying on handles, put just a touch of brakes on it . It will increase in speed, too much and it will
drop back. When you get it right, you will know it.
