My cousin went to school and was friends with Gerdes. He tells me that he was scared to ski with the guy b/c of the stuff Gerdes would drag him down on their ski vacations. Apparently he has always like the edge.....

The edge is fun, exhilarating, intoxicating, and euphoric.....until you get cut.

Honestly I wish I had the fortitude to do more than I do.......some of the things these guys do are incredible. There is just always a price to pay.

Trajectory, glide rate of fall and direction!

You have to wonder how a jumper figures it all out.... where he can not just jump from-but more so- where he can aim him/herself without hitting the outcroppings or slope itself.

As you see ....they get pretty close to some terrain they're flying directly over...not just talking about vertical walls they steer close to, but the horizontal 'steps' on on the slope they're fallig/flying over.

I have to think it might be studied by GPS beforehand at home.... as opposed to just eyeballed as they contemplate the jump from the top...?

Still the calculation seems utterly important unless you're dropping down a sheer wall. So is it all down in the head.... or pre-jump on paper( for a less severe degree slope)?

Anyone.....anyone...? Bueller?:shocked2:

Sometimes they don't get it right. Jeb Corliss had an accident on the 16th in South Africa. He was lucky this time.
