Any Tent Camper Issues?

I have a fairly nice tent camper and was thinking of bringing it to the event. Has anyone used a tent camper there before and/or have had any problems
like the top half ending up in Kansas!
I have camped in some high winds with no trouble but I have never camped on a dry lake bed.

Thanks for any input

Are you talking about a pop up trailer. If so I brought my pop up out to the event for 3 years and have had problems with high wind. One windy days
there could be gust of wind over 60 to 70 mph. In the past during high wind I would have to drop the camper and wait for the wind to die down.
Always bring something to block the wheels or your camper will go for a ride.

I started reading Susan's post and was worried she was going to give you the go ahead. As I read on, she described what I was going to warn you
about. I've owned several campers including a popup and I feel that even the very nice ones are too much surface area and not enough kiester to hold
it all down in the worst of conditions on the playa. On the other hand you're only 35 miles from Vegas there so if you're a gamblin

Yeah I wouldn't do that again. I borrowed a buddies tent trailer for the 09 event and had to pack it up in the middle of the night. I woke up around
2 am to the sound of freight train wind trying to rip the trailer apart. had to pack up and bail to a tent left unoccupied by Rob Vreeland who was
smart enough to get a hotel room for the night.

i camped in a big solid rv last year, when the winds were up saturday and sunday night it got scary to sleep in there. Also, if you camp out there
lots of dust gets kicked up so you may want to wear a bandana around your face so you won't be caughing for the next several weeks

Ok so I was thinking a tent would be good but now I'm thinking maybe the hotel is a good backup for the really bad nights.

Thanks Guys! I was just going to use it for day use and stay in a hotel at night but maybe I won’t do that either, just thought it would be nice to
have some refuge during the day, especially if the wife comes. (I have a feeling I know where she will be anyway)
I brought it to Boulder City once to the RC race track over there (my previous passion) with no trouble but it sounds like a better chance of some
extreme winds on the playa. I don’t know...I will have to think about it.

theres plenty of tents to sit under out there to get out of the sun during the day, don't worry about that!

Yeah the tent camper is staying home. it will suck to much gas to pull down there and it’s a pain to set up and down. and with my luck the top will
end up in Kansas. BB I've been in Vegas aaaaa..... maybe 18 20 times, never gambled :saint:
Thanks for the input guys!

Any soft sided shelter will probably have a bad day(s) during the event. Instead, for those flying in and wish to camp, rent a van/car that can be
slept in. Just bring pads and a sleeping bag. On the quiet mornings, there is nothing like waking up on a dry lake bed. So still, the air is..
