kite surfing VS wind surfing

Hello,

what is easier to learn kite surfing or windsurfing?
I am aware that for kitesurfing you have to be able to steer the kite and have good control of it. Once that is accomplished is kitesurfing learning curve steeper easier then that of windsurfing?

Any opinions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kiko

If you have already mastered kite flying, then the learning curve for kite surfing is faster. But that is easy to say because kite control represents 50% of the required skills for kite surfing.

Comparing apples to apples, the learning curve for individuals who are starting from scratch in both sports would likely find the learning curves to be about the same.

Kite surfing, however, requires some extra consideration to safety. Kite surfing uses powerful kites flown in high wind. Beginners and experts need to be well aware of their ability to control these kites in populated areas.
Riders should be in good physical condition, good swimmers, and not too proud to wear floatation and helmets.

I suggest hooking up with a school that provides professional instruction. There are several in Canada, some providing lodging.
