Switch Nitro 14 test fly

A buddy of mine had his new Switch Nitro 14 at the beach today. It's a nice kite.
I flew it back to back with my 14m Rise and have to say that I was impressed.
The build quality is top notch, bar pressure was higher than the Rise but it felt good in the air.
Upwind in 11-12knots on a Spleene Rip 138x44..

Easily as good as my Rise for half the price...$760 shipping included.:shocked2:

A good quality kite for a great price.

Cool.

How much bar pressure? Like, your elbows bleed or what?

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

The pressure was more than on my Rise but the Rise has almost none.
It was a comfortable amount but I only flew it for 15min max.. I would need
a few hours on it to be sure.

The bar quality was awesome. Not a fan of the trim system but it works
the stopper ball is good.. The QR seemed like it may be a bit sticky in fine sand.
Replacement parts are cheap though $14.50 for a trimline not $30-$50 like most others

I am thinking about picking up some parts to make a new frakenbar for my Arc's

Ta ... so basically, you noticed the pressure but didn't bother you. I wonder how the 16 is ...

Switch bar? There's a video of them dumping handfuls of sand in it, and it still releases. Very simple in there ... almost as good as the North which is the best ;)

I think the trim is brilliant! A little bit ugly in the details - velcro is nasty :D

IMHO for the ultimate modded Navigator, you'd need the Switch Regulator, QR, North pulley for the depower line and a goodly length of Amsteel for the depower AND for the safety ... use the bar, rear leaders etc etc from the Nav.
The OEM Nav has a 3-piece safety line - amsteel then q-power then amsteel with a bungy ... the joins are thick and won't slide through the Switch QR hole without removing the shrink-wrap that protects the joins ... 1 piece of Amsteel will solve that.

Actually, a FSer FDS line would be better - thinner and just as strong. Hmm.

I am thinking the North Quad bar will do all that without modification.

Correction - 1 mod connecting the safety line to pull on one of the front lines rather than both at the same time. There is a mod posted on kiteforum for that.
