I recall seeing lots of large tracts of land out there, but never flown there. I guess you could go ask a farmer if you can use his field? I've never heard of anyone actually riding up in that area...

Lancaster is about 30 miles East of Don Swords of the KitePlace. You might try dropping him a line to see if he has any recommendations.

Different kind of buggies! Although, if you show the ones up there what you have to move buggies, they may trade you for what they use to move their buggies!

I image with the abundance of farms there's space somewhere... I'm sure the Amish would be amenable since it is a natural form of transportation :D I recall seeing other people from PA on the forum.. worst case 3h to wildwood on 222.

I think he should consider WBB for the fall anyway! Already a group from SOMD coming, join up and meet us over there!

Hmmmmm...

It’s really not better than here where I live. Worse in fact.

1) I haven’t worked down there in six years. It’s really becoming a subburb of Philly. I shutter to think of the development since I left. I cannot explain dealing with people who moved from Philly to the country and thought they would complain to me and I would get the farms to stop smelling like farms. It’s an air quality issue don’t ya know.:puzzled:

2) Do not go to the farmers. First, it is summer and everything is growing. Second, they are Amish and you (outsider) are not welcome unless they sell you someting. The Amish are not largely understood. You (I) have to deal with the community thru a spokesman. If you deal with them outside the spokesman, you deal with ALL of them. Better bone up on your dutchified German. This is the best quick exlaination I have seen. http://people.howstuffworks.com/amish.htm

3) You will have to fly on public lands like I do. Mostly schools. The “best spots” are in the southern poritons of the county. Pequea Valley HS / Intermediate school has the largest contiguous property that I remember close to Lancaster City. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=pequea+valley+high+school&...

4) Winds have not been good during the summer unless it is stormy. And that is not good either. http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/lancaster_airport

It’s not really help, but that’s my input. So WWBB Fall it is... :wee:
