I'm pretty sick of the money grab too.
For instance, one of my fav kite videos just got the music ripped off in the last few weeks:

And it makes absolutely no sense. I can't stand listening to the radio in the car with the constant commercials, and MTV is a joke, so watching youtube and others is usually where I find a lot of new music. For instance, I found this video of the new HQ Matrixx here in the forum this past weekend:

Didn't know what the song was, so I used the Shazam app on my Iphone to ID it. Went to Itunes and bought it. Why can't labels figure out if they let people use music for homemade movies, they can actually make more money. It's like letting us do free advertising for them.

Seem to remember the story of a guy who owned a label and had a rather unique business model ... rather than paying his bands directly, they uploaded stuff for free to the interweb and let people download and use it as they will ... the idea was, as the GOOD STUFF got popular, it'd be picked up for commercial applications and THEN the band would get paid ...

Instead, we get labels pimping utter utter garbage and coming down like a hammer on people who they decide are "pilfering" it

It's one of the things that f**ks me off about the digital age ... I own the damned CD but I'm not legally allowed to dump it on my computer then transfer it between my devices? That's like having a book that I'm the only one who's allowed to read it ... or only allowed to read the book in the living room, but not in the bedroom, on the balcony or on the crapper.

Then we got the whole region stupidity too dang I'm going to have to start a new thread when I finally upload it, aren't I?
