What would be a good control bar to go with my PANSH Ace 6m?

Currently I am kite jumping but I have plans for a buggy and board in the future.

...this obsession is going to break me (financially and physically)

Save money and get the most out of that kite by buying a harness !

If you're flying a fixed bridle foil and you want to switch from handles to a bar, a crossover setup is the way to go. Here's a thread that should answer your questions

I think in AZ 200 miles might not be too far at all! Who knows, at least you'll have some greasy eats!

Big Earls is around a 4 hour drive. 4 hours is a lot of kite flying time.

I know someone who has a wake board harness. However I am planning on getting a harness in the near future.

Another reason I am looking to get a bar is because I have a 2m without lines or handles. I figure I could take the old handles and move them to a smaller kite. Then let other people use the smaller kite to learn.

Big Earl sponsored the pass the Radical, a 6M Libre Radical, de-power kite. I got to try it the end of last winter. It was a sweet kite, black and yellow, fast and lifty. You should see if he'll let you fly it. I think he offered it for sale a while back, but I didn't have the money then, still don't.

I waisted a lot of time and a little money playing with bars . Search cross over bar for my results.

Get a KITE harness ! That is your best money spent right now.

Can you attach the handles to a harness?

uh huh, it's called a strop. It's a line about 17-21" between the tops of your handles. Often there are loops or leaders there for attaching the strop. The strop runs through your harness hook or your spreader bar has a pulley on it

Careful hooking in though. You need to know what your kite will do next in all conditions and have complete control of it, or it will often not end well. The time when you need to unhook the most is when you phonically cannot.

So I need a harness, spreader bar, some rope, and a quick release to make it work. However, it sounds like I first need to break the kite in a little. The first time I took it out, it won.

My suggestion.


Try NOT to fly the kite at 1st. Simply try and keep it steady at zenith for almost 5 minutes. Then start just rocking it a bit and recovering back to zenith. Then small high figure 8s.

Don't make large jerky motions . Smooth small actions with timing ahead are best.

Avoid having ANY brake tension at all until you are ready to play with them. ( point handles toward kite )

Start hooking in to rest up + walk upwind early. It will give your arms a break so you can fly much longer.

Don't get tooooo worried about adding a quick release. Far better to get used to flopping in and out of your spreader + feel how hard it is to do so when well powered. So avoid hooking in well powered at 1st!!!!

Hold on ?.....I'm confused ? ........ :puzzled:You say you are jumping and flying a 6m kite on your intro? Now you say you got beaten up 1st time out? No doubt if you are learning on a 6m Pansh ace?

What is it? You can jump or can't fly?

I need to start wearing a helmet and pads to be honest. I got beaten up when I was about 15 ft in the air and got hit with a gust. Before this one I was flying a Prism 4m, which was easy to control. This one has a little more pull so I am still trying to get used to it. Hopefully that clears things up.

It's ALL about brake control for you know.

Learn how to use the brakes to turn the kite without any push / pull action. Work on slowing the speed of the kite by applying both brakes. See how slowing the speed reduces the power. Even in the power zone.

That's a pretty touh kite to handle in gusty winds. Sounds like you are figuring that out. Yup, pads GOOD! Saved me just last Sunday!

Thanks I will be working on those brakes hopefully on Sunday. Saturday winds 33mph gusting to 58mph and that is just a little too much.
