This is worth a mention here because JIBE veterans will remember Blackbeards Seafood Restaurant overlooking Kite Beach and the JIBE staging area and first-timers will be looking for it as a landmark to find the event.

The Jekyll Island Authority has closed Blackbeard's and is re-branding it as "Finn's On the Beach", to re-open April 1. It will have the same staff and management, but a new look and a new menu. Being a beachside restaurant it is very casual and any kind of beachwear is welcome. I's a good place drop to in for a cold one apre' kite.

Being state-owned, the bathrooms and facilities are open to the public.

One thing the JIA likes about JIBE is that they definitely see the up-tick in traffic and business at the restaurant. When local Kiter Peter Boyton and others put up some SLK show-kites, people will see them from the causeway bridge when driving on to the island and will come over to investigate.
