Anyone know where I can get a few hours of snow kiting lessions in MA (or NH). Am located in Boston.

Maybe even rent equipment, only have a kite for learning ( Rush III 350 Pro).

I really don't know what Andrew at http://www.powerlinesports.com is up to any more other then trying to run his store as a co-op but he used to give snow kiting lessons and probably would again though he is now heavily focused on the surfing side of the business.

I don't know if Adam is in to snow kiting but he gives kite surfing lessons at Nahant all the time. Here is his website http://www.bostonkiteschool.com/

FWIW if you are good at skiing or boarding its not hard to put it to kiting and a 350 will be ample size on a fast surface and decent wind.

I hear that, highwind. Snowboarder in RI here who is about 50 minutes out of Boston. I am super stoked to try it this year but have only found stormboarding.com from VT to be the only scheduled lesson outfit in the area. Would be interested to see if anything else is closer!?

If you've got the gear just meet up with some "local" riders. Its not that hard if you know how to ski / board and know how to fly the kites. the two go together quite well - easier than learning to landboard IMO.

Stormboarding is a good outfit. Rachael is a PASA instructor and every bit a professional. She does a good job of getting you up to speed quickly while maintaining a high level of safety. And suprisingly it's not a bad drive via the interstate vs. Rt.16. All they do at Stormboarding is snowkite instruction in the winter so she time for lessons and has all the equipment to get you going. I think she offers some deep discounts to students on gear as well.

Not to mention you'll be learning on Champlain which has some damn good steady winds compared to what we get here in North Conway (Mountains make it pretty punchy) on the small lakes. I think Zeb teachs mostly over in the North Fryeburg potatoe fields though which can have pretty good winds compared to say, Chocorua. I can't say for sure we haven't seen him in a while and I don't ride the fields.

Heard about Tug Hill in Jan too. Def on the schedule to check it out!

Only tried it twice and did not have nearly enough padding. Paid for days by sitting at an angle in meetings...

Sad thing is I have had the butt pads on and the POC VPD knees and i was STILL black and blue for days!

I was going to say it looked like there was some overlap, but you seem to be going for soft armor to go under your snow gear.

That soft armor goes great under some shorts on the ATB as well....come on come on!

The stuff is $$$ but d30 works awesome. All the comfort of soft cell armor but a hell of a lot better protection.

The stuff is amazing.

Super low profile. Fits under your T-shirt no prob.

Have to say though. Landboarding a couple weeks ago I took a digger on the POC VPD knees and whew... still went right through like a truck to the knee cap and below. Had a severe bruise for a few days and was very surprised at the lack of protection for all the hype they get (and $$$!).

Went and got myself some smith scabs for a bit more cush for those "over the top" tumbles when first figuring out the whole thing. That's why I'm saving the POC for snow only.
