Beach Conditions

I made the trip to SLP yesterday morning, the tide was in due to the hurricane. The high tide did push all the seaweed to the dunes.I had to drive inbetween the waves to get to the point. At the time i was there, they had not collected the trash cans but i will write the parks board later to request that they do a good cleanup of the area and please do not leave the trash cans half buried on the beach.Looks like we escaped the big one this week, keep your finger crossed for the rest of the season..........aj

Boliver???

AJ,
I want to give Boliver a try again. Is there still a lot of washouts on that beach?
I loved the ferry ride and the change of scenery. Seemed like a nice place to play some more. Glenn and I will be arriving Friday the 18th and leaving on monday the 28th.
Hoping for some awesome rides.
Itching to get out to visit Texas again. (still considering buying some real estate there, keep your eyes open for me)
We will be staying at the Galvez as usual.
Counting the days,
Jason

Boliver is a nice beach and i would be happy to do it again, i am planning on having my sailboat by then so maybe we can do a little voyage to that coast also.Looking to get something in 36' ft range so their should be plenty of room. When i set up the galvez block this yr i thought about you and your late morning breakfest.I keep my eye on property for ya but you could of already made 25% on your investment since you were here last yr..........aj:singing:

AJ,
Really cool that you are getting a boat.
Couldn't buy last year due to the fact that I am carrying 2 houses for over 1 year already. (losing money for now...)
I thought I would have sold it by now. Now Max is living there while going to school, he has 5000 sq. ft. to himself. I figure that since I am paying for it anyway, he might as well live it up.
You should plan on joining us for a sunday brunch @ the Galvez this year. Really amazing Buffet as well as a Thanksgiving Day feast, but we plan to do Thanksgiving on the Beach again.
See ya soon,
Jason

Hey all,SlP is looking incredible as of yesterday. All the dunes without grass are spread out smooth and there is a few diehard dunes with grass left.Roads are slimy but drying and all the flat are packed enough for skinny lil tires.
Yall ready for a trip?

I just got back from Galveson. I only played at slp. It is in great shape. The sand was hardpack and the dunes have all been smoothed out and there are no wash outs. If there are no more storms the beach should be in great shape when we get there next month. See ya.

I must say that east beach is incrediable right now! I buggied SLP on saturday, its nice but east beach is so much like the playa right now.Sunday i went down and had a nice 10 mile session before sunset with a PL 15m phantom and my dog.Speeds were about 25-30 mph.Monday it rained on the island adding about 1.5 inches to our total.I waited till 5pm and hit east beach again.Winds were 18-25 se(straight onshore) i set up the PL 9m phantom and had a nice 20+ mile session with speeds from 35-40+ mph.The beach is in such fine condition that my leg does not even hurt from all this play.Looking forward to dbbb this yr and i will do a recon mission on boliver before yall arrive.............aj&caddo:singing:

Boliver

I spent yesterday morning crossing the ferry, and driving 25 miles up the coast. On my return i used the beach to see conditions. Well they are excellent, better than last yrs trip to boliver. The sand is so hard packed that you can not even see your car tracks on the beach. The few water crossing of yrs past are now gone.It should be a sweet trip over there this year!.....................aj

Florida just lost half their beach- overheard one couple say they lost a $100,000 waterfront lot in Fort Meyers yesterday!! It's just gone!!!ouch!

See ya DBBB!!

About Bolivar

I may go to Bolivar beaches along with SLP this weekend of Nov.4th and 5th if weather permitting. Any buggier are more than welcome to meet me there :) Since AJ said 25 miles beach long:wow: and wondering which beach spot is the best with widest, easy access, and less crowd? ( May have to avoid the Bolivar flats at western side due to demand of birdwatchers in near winter season.. )

Rob i would start at the western end and work your way east. The bird watchers are at the far west end by the jetties. If you go the high island route it is pretty bumpy. Just post a time for Saturday and i will meet ya there.Just remember that it is Texas Motorcycle rally weeekend and they expect 200,000 in galveston...aj

Thanks for letting me know about bird watchers are more far west end to avoid. 200,000+ kite buggiers are coming into Galveston this weekend:o I'm kidding... No wondered I had a hard time to find a motel/hotel room availability this weekend. I may have to put it off to next time and keep you in post. Thanks AJ

I buggied Slp on saturday, it is a bit mushy but the storms are coming this evening to compact things down.Overall it is 7 out of 10.Sunday i buggied east beach.East beach is a fairly good run to Stewards. The open area has a few issues due to and grading and renourshment that is going on.The Big reef area is open to use.Over all rating of 5 out of 10.On monday i buggied Boliver. The condition of this beach is SWEEEEET!! Big and wide and long. The beach grooming tractors were there yesterday. They are grooming 20 miles of beach to rollover pass.I made a 20 mile run on this beach and only saw the 3 tractors and 6 cars.We might plan on making this trip on mon, tue, wed. It is an easy 20 minute ferry ride from galveston .Then you travel about 5 miles to the beach entrance. I will make maps this week for this location and dinner locations. I will make a few extra that we can post at east beach entrances too. Over all i put in 65 miles of bugging last weekend and looking forward to 400-500 miles next week.Put caddo down for 250 miles next week too.................aj

Sounds good to me. As long as we get good wind direction and that is what the out-of-towners want to do. We aim to please! :frog:
