looking for cape hatteras info

I'm looking for suggestions on where to stay that's kite friendly for learning but still has waves for my kids (8 & 9) who love sandcastles and boogie boarding.

Planning to go in June or July.

I love Nahant but rarely get there anymore.

Waves, Rodanthe, or Avon are where I'd look. They're all within 15 or 20 miles of as many or more kite launches. The Pamlico Sound is an awesome place to learn how to kite. Being able to stand up after you crash really helps speed up the learning curve. You're going to have a higher percentage chance of wind in June rather than July. Neither month is too late as previously mentioned but the wind typically settles down the warmer it gets, although I had the best session of my life at Kite Point last August with a solid 20+ all day long so you never can tell.

I'd look at Kite Hatteras or Outer Banks Kiting for lessons. They both have great reputations. I learned at Real but if I had it to do over again I would go with either of the said places. The biggest thing with Real, especially for someone who lives so far away, is if you get skunked on wind they don't refund your money...they only offer you a store credit. Pretty lame in my book.
