Looking for a first kite for my son(160 lb) to use with his landboard. He has good board skills and can pilot a buggy with a depower in mild
conditions. Should I look for a kite with handles or go depower? Any recommendations for a good beginner kite. Will be using in the Baltimore area
mostly on grass.abkayak - 19-11-2016 at 08:22 PM
Gemini6kls 7.5 apex...can't go wrong w/ thatB-Roc - 20-11-2016 at 06:48 AM
While a 7.5 Apex could be a great choice, that totally depends on what type of winds he prefers to learn in. Looks like you have a pretty robust
quiver. Why not let him have a go at a few of your kites and determine which style and size works best for him and then and then buy from there?southpadreburt - 20-11-2016 at 07:17 AM
That would be a good idea but we live far apart.windrider1 - 20-11-2016 at 07:42 AM
Burt- I would recommend that he start with depower- I think when I met him at ww - he already knows how to fly and in my opinion it is much easier to
learn with a depower. I am still a huge believer in starting with an ARC which is what I started with and found to be the easiest after having tried
fixed bridle as well as a few foil depowers- I started Andrew on Apexs and he liked it okay but really improved and "got it" when I put him on an ARC.
So that's my 2 cents and that would not change even if I did not have a 13m venom II rtf for sale:D

Go depower without a doubt. Depowers make it so much easier to keep your balance and learn to trust the kite when it comes to leaning back against the
