If you do register , could you also post on this thread to let others know you are coming??
If you can bring something to the Thanksgiving lunch, you can let us know on this thread also. I can provide some turkeys again this year. We might
get back to the old tradition of frying the turkey on the beach this year. We weren't able to do it last year.
If you can bring a fryer , let us know also.

are there any hotel codes? Where is everyone staying? centex_buggier - 9-11-2013 at 07:38 AM
I'll be there on the wednesday. I hope to be bringing my son this time. We are booked wed & thurs nights at the Islander East condos on east
beach. We will camp on Friday & Sat somewhere on the beach. I'll be bringing a shepherds pie.
Steve. kitemaker4 - 9-11-2013 at 02:23 PM
Big Mike
We do not do hotel codes anymore. You can find some good deals on the net since it is off season in Galveston.
Susan (npw goddess)centex_buggier - 9-11-2013 at 04:42 PM
Is anyone planning on camping on the beach near stonehenge? I might go down there on Friday night.
Steve. treblehook - 11-11-2013 at 09:37 PM
Took a Run to East Beach on Sunday. NE wind 7 to 12 ,light wind day.
Jeremiah and I got a little bugging in on the 12 side. Introduced a new kiter (Jesse)to the
Peter Lynn (Charger 15) twin skin world. He did well for his first static flying day.
Beach front good hard packed. Little wet and soft to the area to the east. Just need about 20 buggy's out there to pack it down...just 12 days to
pre-event weekend...looking good...until then....HK:D

one more aerial shot
Sier_Pinski - 12-11-2013 at 07:02 PM
It's been a while since I last checked East Beach. Looks like the main parking lot is covered with puddles of rainwater. But luckily it doesn't look
too crowded with tourists and fishers unlike in the summer.
Looking at the photos, it also seems that they installed four giant white pillars around the beach, which may interfere with the upcoming
kiting event. :P
Is that one of those RC quadro-copter cameras you're using? GammoRay - 13-11-2013 at 07:43 AM
"Looking at the photos, it also seems that they installed four giant white pillars around the beach, which may interfere with the upcoming kiting

I guess I'm slow, but I just now opened the beach pics! Giant white pillars=legs of aerial photo rig! Good one, Sier!
Debbie and I will bring a couple of dishes on Thursday. (Will post what they are when we decide what to make!)
When and where is the Pre-event and BBQ? I didn't check the box when I registered, but would like to attend. kitemaker4 - 13-11-2013 at 08:08 AM
Not sure where everyone will go for the pre-event and sorry to say I have not heard that anyone will be cooking bbq that weekend.

Lol yes what you see is not white pillers its the landing gear on the hexacopter the beach was not too wet where we all buggie at. The sand was a
little soft and wet due to rain but not bad with big foots sure it will be better as it drys over the next couple weektreblehook - 14-11-2013 at 05:42 AM
Yes, need to get different landing gear for the hexicopter.
If we could get a head count for the 23rd, could bring the BBQ pit
And do some lunch cookin, any input?van - 14-11-2013 at 03:35 PM
I should be down there on the 23rd. Apparently, I got a condo for that week for free since my cousin cant' use it ... woohoo.. no more running back
and forth. Now, I just need to ask him which condo ... lol.treblehook - 15-11-2013 at 10:14 AM
I'll just bring some peanut butter and jelly...lolSier_Pinski - 15-11-2013 at 02:09 PM
I'll be busy Saturday the 23rd, so expect me to be at the pre-event Sunday the 24th.Nfish - 15-11-2013 at 05:33 PM
I can't make the 23rd either (some of the people are just not very good at picking a wedding date...), but I can try to make the 24th if people are still there.jeremiah - 15-11-2013 at 08:53 PM
I can do 23 and 24 and some during the week 18th - 22nd if wind is good Nfish - 18-11-2013 at 08:31 PM
OMG you guys will have some wind this weekend, lol. The forecast probably will change though. van - 19-11-2013 at 07:40 AM
I only see 16 registered name. I plan to bring food but base on the list, it will be very little.
I will bring the usual Vietnamese pork sticks. I plan to help get the turkey also. Looks like Steve (taper123) is bringing a fryerkitemaker4 - 19-11-2013 at 07:43 AM
Van
I have two turkeys for the event. That should be enough with the amount of people registered as of now. I also picked up the peanut oil to fry them
in.
Susan (npw goddess)kitemaker4 - 19-11-2013 at 07:46 AM
For those who are going and have not posted what they are bringing, now is the time.
Susan (npw goddess)GammoRay - 19-11-2013 at 07:56 AM

Debbie and I will pumpkin bread dessert and a sweet 'n sour cole slaw (no mayo) side dish. Thinking about bringing a rice dish (pilaf or dressing),
too.WELDNGOD - 19-11-2013 at 03:08 PM

Turkey Day Food
austinbuggyman - 21-11-2013 at 08:00 PM
Turkey Day weather forecast is looking good! I'll be cooking on the beach as usual: sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and apple cobbler. I'll be
bringing my one table for the food. If anyone else can bring another folding table or two that would be great.
I would like a confirmation as to which location we'll meet at for both the pre-event and the main one.
van - 22-11-2013 at 07:22 PM
Looks like we will have wind all week but it will be coming out of the north , northeast so will be side shore. Weather is gonna be a little cool.
I have a folding table I can bring.
Susan, I will let you take care of the turkey. I will do the usual BBQ/Grill food.Sier_Pinski - 23-11-2013 at 04:04 PM
Ready for Sunday morning. So what's it like at East Beach now? Is it flooded, muddy, or...?BigMikesKites - 24-11-2013 at 05:41 AM
i will be down Friday after Thanksgiving and Saturday as well.Sier_Pinski - 24-11-2013 at 02:46 PM
Where were you guys Sunday? I was the only one there with the exception of two kitesurfers who haven't heard of the event yet. I told them to check it
out on Thanksgiving. I went to East Beach at 9:00 AM expecting a crowd, but there were no Dead-Birders to be seen, to my surprise. After some solo
kiteboarding, I decided to leave at 1:00.
The rest of you were missing out on some awesome but gusty 30 MPH wind conditions. It was certainly more than enough for my low-aspect 3 meter:
Taper123 - 24-11-2013 at 06:32 PM
I was not at the beach, but I tested out my cooking gear Pre-Turkey Turkey
event was magnificent.
Dinner at 2pm as always?????Sier_Pinski - 24-11-2013 at 06:35 PM
Me again. As you can see I am well-prepared for wind chill. Taper123 - 24-11-2013 at 06:48 PM
Cool... I've done a lot of winter runs on that same path
Can be eally fast....GammoRay - 24-11-2013 at 08:58 PM
Sorry to miss you, Sier! I must have arrived just after you left and you are correct, there were no kite flyers or power kiters in sight. I flew my
new Peter Lynn Viper for a while, and then put up a big delta to keep me company while I ate my catfish dinner. Packed up after dark and, after
watching the light show of the Carnival cruise ship head out to sea, made my lonely way home as it began to drizzle a cold depressing rain. Sniff! mecdave - 25-11-2013 at 05:38 AM
Been there done that. If just one other person shows up, particularly with the makings for hot chocolate, it can be a good time! Otherwise... bleah.
Funny (sorta) story. I woke up on East Beach one morning and was about to connect the MiFi to the laptop when I got a pop-up saying networks
available. It said Carnival. Looked out the window and sure enough, there she was heading out to sea.
Hoping it gets better by turkey day. Y'all have fun!GammoRay - 25-11-2013 at 06:38 AM
So, who was taking the photos of you, Sier? I couldn't even find a fisherman to take one of me to prove I was there! It's hard to do a selfie with
both hands full... :DSier_Pinski - 25-11-2013 at 08:32 AM

Well, I probably should have mentioned that my dad was there with me as well. He tends to play the roles of supervisor and kite-launcher while we are
at the beach. We have a zoom lens for the iPhone 4S that was used for the second photo.Nfish - 25-11-2013 at 11:29 AM
The weather forcast for this week is just...sigh... Raining when there is wind and
light wind when it's sunny. I'm praying for more wind this weekend or I'd have to borrow a big FB kite.van - 25-11-2013 at 08:16 PM
We had plan to be down there all weekend but then got a call saturday morning that my mother in law pass away. This put a major pinch in our plans.
My wife is a wreck right now. I'm trying to see if I can get her away from the house and come to the beach. If she sees some old friends, it might
make her feel better. If I don't make it down there this year, enjoy some turkeys for me and the wife. kitemaker4 - 25-11-2013 at 09:25 PM
I hope you can make it Van, but if not I understand. Tell your wife I am sorry for her loss.

I think I am going to drive in to Galveston tomorrow (hump day) instead of today. With the wind forcast for today and tonight I am not sure I can put
up the trailer. Looks like Thurs. it will also be warming up into the 50's instead of the 40's today and tomorrow. I hope everyone has a safe trip
and see you on the beach.

I'll probably stop by and say hi, but I might not set up until Thursday.
Steve. austinbuggyman - 26-11-2013 at 09:44 PM
I'll be out there tomorrow (Wednesday) looking for a dry spot large enough to lay out my lines. I went out there Monday and East Beach looks a lot
like it did a couple of years ago. There's a huge lake between the shore and the road. I'm thinking the area by the ship channel may have drained
enough to buggy over there. We shall see...

That was probably a smart move Susan. It's 7am Wed and it's 40 degrees with a 28mph wind out of the NE. Brrr. Should be nice by this evening and
tomorrow though. Has there ever been a dbbb turkey day when it wasn't a perfect blue sky day?treblehook - 27-11-2013 at 02:47 PM
Won't make the T-day dinner, but will be down Friday in the am. Light winds predicted so I will bring plan "b" with me. Cut down some drought stricken
oak trees , will bring some fire wood for the campers... see ya'll Friday....centex_buggier - 27-11-2013 at 05:19 PM
Just got in and went down to check out the beach. It's pretty wet in the usual staging area, but the beach looks buggyable.
Dam it's cold.
