Morrie Williams - 22-1-2013 at 08:58 AM

Any body interested in getting together over the 3 day President's Day weekend?

crazyherb - 22-1-2013 at 09:49 AM

(Raising Hand)...I'm on board... If we can keep the weather cooperative that weekend.

bigkid - 22-1-2013 at 11:11 AM

The hard pack was not very hard Sunday when I was there. No way a board will get going, not sure it the barrows will have much more luck. Had to use 4 wheel drive to get 1/4 mile up and down the beach.

I will pencil it in, hope for better sand conditions. I will bring my rain gear with my new kite, it's a big umbrella.

Morrie Williams - 28-1-2013 at 08:52 AM

Here's the tides for Presidents Day weekend. Any other takers for that weekend? I'm getting ready to make reservations at the state park.

KitePwr - 15-2-2013 at 12:22 AM

I wish SSB was close enough for a weekend outing but 13 hours drive is a bit much. Instead, we will be heading 8 hours south to Elmer's for the weekend. Next time I get a week off we are thinking of heading your way.

See some of you at NABX.

jellis - 15-2-2013 at 10:04 AM

Not a cloud in the sky here at Sunset Beach today. Saturday brings 14 mph W to NW winds with a low tide at noon.

bigkid - 16-2-2013 at 09:09 AM

Rain sucks, so off to the unlimited pancake breakfast at the KOA, than we will see.

sunset-Jim - 16-2-2013 at 09:32 AM

unlimited pancake breakfast!!! Sounds like ballast building time.

KitePwr - 16-2-2013 at 01:39 PM

Sorry to hear about the rain at SSB this morning... hope it's clearing up for you guys.

We arrived at El Mirage Dry Lake a few hours ago and it's sunny and clear with :sniff: no wind. Got a good wind forecast for tomorrow, but today's going to be a lazy day. Later in the week it's also supposed be windy so I'm going to "Work From Home" next week :-) Not sure how I'm going to mount the alarm clock on my buggy so I don't miss any meetings but those are just details :shocked2:

It actually turned out very nice, although be it a bit chilly but no rain and winds were pretty much straight on-shore about 10-12 and then turned a little from the WNW at about 15. Was able to reach both ends of the beach (13mi) and reaching spds in the mid 40's. YAWZZA!! Oh ya, and it was great seeing everybody too :bigok:

bigkid - 16-2-2013 at 06:45 PM

Gee Jim too bad you didn't get to try out that new15.4m Combat. Maybe tomorrow,

Fun Day!! (Video Posted)

crazyherb - 16-2-2013 at 07:07 PM

Had fun!! :wee: Blinged out Flexboardz Haize, 18M North Rhino on double line set...and little 14M HQ Neo2...very cool kite....

The guys all kept the ribbed rubbers out of sight so I wasn't too nervous...although there was mention of having a woodie and some sort of pill that makes you have one...(shrug)... I'm a pro at rolling in mid-conversation...

Sign of a good day's riding...Bling Bling Flexboardz becomes Sand Sand Wheeled Thingy... :singing:

Still figuring out the BB code to insert youtube but here's a link riding the Neo 2:

Here's the page I use...

http://www.seasideforecast.com/radar.php

Look at the middle radar loop and make your call...we'll see ya out here soon enough flea...

You can also get a quick peek at wind outlook too...

sand flea - 17-2-2013 at 06:31 AM

Good info Steve, thanks again.

I've been up since 4- can't take it any more
I'm heading to Sunset
See ya on the beach!

crazyherb - 17-2-2013 at 11:35 AM

My other favorite page is the zoom-able IR satelite on intellicast.com:

http://www.intellicast.com/Local/WxMap.aspx?latitude=46.31&a...

Flea...hope you brought rain gear!!

sunset-Jim - 17-2-2013 at 11:49 AM

Intellicast is the one that I use the most. As accurate as any other but the hourly and the radar images are helpful.

bigkid - 18-2-2013 at 12:13 AM

Why would you ask about rain gear, Steve? Nothing but sun and wind out of the west. Rode to the river and back with the 12.5 Century and was past by a guy who was clocking me at 32mph, Nice day at the beach. Even had a go in the Libre with the new tires/wheels. All I need now is dark tinted windows and a loud stereo with to much base.

Yes, yes, yes!!!! What a great weekend. Got to fly 3 different Combats on Saturday, 10.3, 8.6 and the 7.2 (had to keep dropping in size :)) And then for Sunday when the winds were pretty light got to open up the newest family member, the 15.4. Can you say "A River to the Rocks Run"? The locals all know what I'm talking about. Although I do have to add a disclaimer that I used a little help for the last 3 miles. Thanks again Josh

Great weekend, great friends and WAY overdue.
