Photo Gallery Poll

We are preparing for a big system upgrade and are considering the possibility of adding a member's photo gallery. This would allow members to create their own albums and upload images.

Please cast your vote if this is something you would use or not.

After voting, please help us with a organizational question...
Should we setup main albums for each of the various kite sports (buggying, surfing etc.) or just a general area for albums listed by member's names?

Your vote and suggestions are appreciated!

I like the idea of picture galleries per sport (kiteboarding, buggying, snowkiting....etc)

Photo gallery per user might be too much. I am not sure how it will work but it might be easier to browse in each sport section rather than individual photo albums.

My vote goes to "yes I will use it" and "main albums for each sport"

Upgrade? Please tell me you are going to Invision Powerboard of vBulletin (Like Flexifoil Fourms). You choose that route, and a Photo Gallery is a click away...granted licenses aren't free and you aren't advertising here...

but yes, an upgrade from this forum software will make life easier for you, and us.

I second Brian. Per sport would be much better then members. If you want to see snowkiting photos, there they are, etc. Instead of digging through members hoping to find snowkiting.

We'll be upgrading the scripts but sticking with this program. Super secure!

You have my vote for it and also I think it is wise to have it per sport. I also think that creating extra folder for videos would be nice. Thank You for upgrade.

I like zloty's idea. Under each sport section, two sub-sections, one for pictures and the other for video.

I'd use it

Either way by sport or by member sounds good to be- I think that each way has its pro's and con's.

Unfortunately, the gallery does not support movies... only gif, jpg and png images. Good idea though.

Divide by galleries but not by owners. I would love to see ALL of our pics but not have to go into each users folders and have to "mine" for pics.

Glad to see the forum is progressing enough that an upgrade is being looked at. {not that there was anything wrong with this format.}

The forum's look and format will remain the same. The gallery will be an extension. And there will be some added features.

Sounds like the concensous is albums organized by kite sport.

How about the ability for members to create sub albums (inside the buggy album, each member could choose to create a sub folder of pics)? Or is it better to keep it simple (1 album for each sport - all pics display according to date posted)?

Thanks for all the comments. It helps!

Yes there is. That will be another added feature, but it's unrelated to the gallery. youtube bb code will be applicable in the thread posts.
