can you add more information for what it is that you need? based solely on your subject, i'd say you're good with your listed sting 1.2.
many people here can help you if you give them a better idea of what you're looking for.

Not sure if this applies here, but many folks (including myself) have experienced trouble trying to post on PKF from Apple devices such as iPhones and
iPads due to "Smart Punctuation". If relevant here, go into your settings, general, keyboards, then deselect smart punctuation.

I guess knowing what you consider high winds and as mentioned above what will you be doing with the kite.
My go to was always the 3M Brooza when winds got to the point they were scaring people. That thing was in it's element in 30mph. Good luck finding
someone who will part with one though. I've filled that spot in my current quiver with a 2.8m Reactor. I've only had a chance to put it up in 22-25mph
but it seems like it'll do the job. I go for speed in a buggy though. Nothing record setting but I like to move.

Hi all,
Apologies for not posting earlier but the forum was out to get me and would not allow me to post
At the weekend I was using my ozone 2.3m in Beaufort six winds and it was completely uncontrollable. I then switched to the sting 1.2 which was fun
but lacked the power to get a significant speed. Therefore what I am looking for is a kite with a more aggressive performance profile at the end of
the wind window that is safe in Beaufort six and a bit beyond this.
Thanks

My absolute go to when my 8m Montana is too much is a 5m LEI HQ Ignition. I set my pb with it and have dozens of runs over 60 mph with it. Grunt
when you want it, then plenty of depower for a low drama turn around.

There are not many FB kites for that sort of abusive conditions, when they get small they get twichy. Anything good will be fast, anything small and
cheap will not make power or get ripped to pieces.
To beat that 2.3m Vapour you have you would need something designed to eat bad conditions. Only FB kite I can think of specifically designed to be
safe in sketchy stuff was the Brooza. Should have never sold mine, There was many days in years gone by when everyone put away their kites in 25-30mph
winds and took turns on the 2m and 3m Broozas we had on hand. Good luck finding one used for sale. It sounds like new Broozas are in the works, not
sure when they will be available. May be worth the wait.
Other option I can think of would be to ditch the FB ideal and go with something depowerable. A bigger kite will be much more stable and it will give
you the ability to ride out the gusts in safety.

Hi all thanks for the replies,
Windstruck,
Yes, it was from iPhone. Doing it now via PC and via a website to strip any issues. https://www.ubertoolz.com/demo/CleanUp.php
Abkayak,
Yes I think the 2.3 vapour is a small as that range goes.
Pablo,
Had a quick look at wiki, to convert mph to beaufort, I guess I'm looking for something happy to sit around 30mph winds, so 22-25mph might be covered
by the ozone already.
BeamerBob,
Thanks I've actually got a new LEI, but haven't had a harness to try it out with so it might actually be the answer and save me buying any more FB's
for high winds
RedSky,
Ha - yea! Serious. I know that obviously the performance of kites dropped off at the wind edge left and right (doing this for some years now) but the
Sting 1.2m is really really soft in that area with little to no traction and tacking into the wind is a slow (boring) process! #
Pablo,
Yea the 1.2m Sting is very very twichy, which is fun, but not a whole lot of traction. I think you're right re LEI - its arrives but can't try yet and
given the cost might be enough money spent on kites this year!

My 1.7m sting was my go to kite for crazy winds. It pulls at the edge and isn't too twitchy. It wasn't going to set speed records but was safe and
stable.
I am counting on my 3.5m LS2 depower to cover me now?
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.

I know from personal experience that the 3.5m LS2 will get you up to and beyond Ivanpah "brown out" conditions (a playa sandstorm in which you have a
Code Brown in your pants when riding). In fact, memory serves that you K2 where Christmas wrapped in that very kite a few years ago at IBX the day the
event tent got mangled. Looking back I am so glad you and I didn't work out that launch as the conditions really got out of hand just a few minutes
after that fiasco.
I have had the daylights scared out of me with small (down to 1.5m) FB kites in my buggy in high brown-out winds on the playa and don't care to do
that again. The smallest FB kite I now own is a 2.5m and this size represent the smallest I'm willing to go with a FB of any AR in the buggy.
For me personally I have really embraced buggying in high winds with teeny, tiny DP kites. Just flat out awesome to have the pressure valve of pushing
the bar out in those conditions. I've watched the master at work (Beamerbob) in those winds with his tiny LEI and it looked stable as all heck and he
was cookin' down the playa as Bob and a few others can.
Of course then there's UtahTami who set the woman's land speed record in the buggy with a small FB kite on Ivanpah in some BIG wind conditions so go
figure. I rest well knowing that Tami is out there setting an example for all of us. You haven't met tough in the buggy until you've met Tami. Pound
per pound she is the steeliness of us all!

Bladerunner,
Funny I've found the Sting rather poor at the edge. Maybe it is just me!
Windstruck,
Hahahaha, code brown.
Yea I think you're right getting the LEI I have into action with a harness seems the solution.
Bladerunner,
Not sure if you mean me, but not the top end crazy speeds. I'd be happy to work up to 50-60kph in the buggy maybe 70kph if all good conditions.
CONCLUSION; I think the answer is to spare the wallet as the LEI will cover it!

I was flying, and setting a PB, with a 2.4m Sting in that aforementioned IBX brownout.
Being a "beginner" kite I found it very stable, compared to my Vipers, in those wind conditions even after I blew out a cell and was flying only half
of the kite.
Someone else can confirm but I am pretty certain that both Brian and Tami were flying 2.4/ 2.6 m Vipers or Vapors when they set their respective
record and I am pretty certain they were both in 6 -7 Beufort.

I believe the 1.7 is a sweet size. The only kite that small that I have flown that I can park and ride in brown out conditions.
