Oh come on bladerunner, we have to give some incentive for new people to show up. It was great to meet slapbasswoody. He is a great guy.
Here are a couple of blurry pictures with my phone. I didn't get any good action shots of riding. If the wind was up I was riding as much as I
could.

Spent a fantastic day yesterday with a great group of fellow kiters at Fall SOBB. A few of them are pretty handy with a shovel, saw, and tie wraps
too, but as they say, what happens in buggy camp stays in buggy camp. All I can say is that it is perhaps a good thing it's hard to change your PKF
name or mine might change to "****struck". 
Had my first buggy session on a beach. Before it had just been Ivanpah and a bunch on soccer fields early on. Now I get what all the hype is about.
Wow! Powerslides, smooth, smooth winds, softness, and a surface that doesn't eat kites.
Single skin heaven by the way, just sayin.  . The wind picked up throughout the
day and I successively flew my 11, then 9, and finally settled into my 7m RaceStar. I stowed my kites flagged out by the dunes covered with sand and
stowed them away at the end. Just shook them off. Sand in the cells? What cells!

Stayed an extra day, and man, am I glad I did. The winds shifted to generally westerly in the early afternoon, and though it was just after high tide,
four of us were able to head north for miles. Three of the guys (blitzhound, wind_dog, and eric67m) made it all the way to the shipwreck and back. I
was a first timer here and turned around about 3/4 of the way but still went for miles before the turn.
What a BEAUTIFUL place. Prettiest place I've ever buggied that's for sure. Great, great, great people here at SOBB.
27.6 miles today all on an 11m RaceStar in sub-10 mph winds. Hit a top speed of 26.2 mph which really wasn't fast, just as fast as I could go in the
conditions. Super fun!!!!
Huge, great thanks to everyone I was able to share time with both at camp and on the beach. As a first timer I really felt at home instantly. Gotta
come back!

I am thrilled you got a taste of the elusive onshore winds Steve. You would not have felt the magic that is Sunset Beach and that would have been a
shame.
You can all thank me for leaving today so conditions would change. I am not complaining. I got my onshore day last Saturday.
Have a safe drive home.

The shipwreck pic is outstanding, both in composition, and infinitely more importantly, for what it represents. Next year.

I also liked at one point during the day I turned to my right and saw a wall of orange. Your kite was parked abought 15 feet off my right off of my
shoulder. A beautiful site.
Today brought S-SW winds, overcast and a slight sprinkle. We still had fun.

Sandflea would be the best to tell you that. I believe that the wreck of the peter iredale is 6 miles from the main beach entrance that we use.
That day we were parked at the 2 mile marker, making it roughly 4 miles up, 8 mile round trip, according to my guessing. It may be more. But it is
the longest trek I have made on a narrow beach without tacking either way.
The dead west winds allowed us to make the trip. Quite often the winds are at less than optimal angles for easy travel both ways without tacking.
I want to say thank you to everybody that made the journey this year to "S.O.B.B. To all the people from Canada, Idaho and Utah in addition to the
"normal" people from oregon and Washington.
Also a huge thank you for the people that host and organize the get together, Phil, Morrie, Sean and Eli. It is so much fun to get away to play and
party with like minded kite nuts.
I look forward to seeing you all next spring, if not earlier.

Sunset is about 1/2 way up the beach from Seaside and 1/2 way to the Iredale. I think that is 18 miles. You can continue on past the Iredale to the "
jetty ". Not sure how many more miles that is. I have never made it that far.
The folks who host this event have hearts bigger than their beach!

In rich anticipation of the rapidly approaching Fall SOBB in September I felt duty bound to do my part to support the German economy by ordering 14
square meters of 6:1 AR single skin FANTASTIC. I don't read German any better than the next American, but below is a nice write up in a German kiting
magazine about this beauty. When I went to the Fall SOBB a couple of years ago my biggest kite was a Born-Kite 11m RS and it was a tad under powered
a few times. Try as I might I just couldn't quite keep up with Eric and Rick to and from the ship wreck when they had their 12m Peaks afloat. Hope
springs eternal that we will all be able to meet this September and that I'll be deliciously overpowered on at least one day with this monster from
the old country.
