Fall SOBB 2018
August 31 - September 9
I believe these are the dates. It's never to early to start planning for SOBB. I hope to see many familiar faces and many new ones. I will be on
vacation so there will be no excuses this time. Let's see if we can top Spring SOBB and make fall the BEST SOBB EVER!

Every great event needs its own thread! As I've mentioned previously, I'm going to try and make this. It is a long-arsed drive for me that will
involve an overnight along the way and back, but some things are just worth the effort. My tentative plans are to spend Labor Day with the family and
then drive up in time to catch the afternoon winds that Wednesday the 5th. Buggy and hang out through Friday night and then drive home that weekend.
This should be a blast!

Thanks guys! Great welcome. As I've been pondering this I've been thinking more that my playa buggy is missing something potentially important for
the beach, viz., a front fender. I have a standard PL BigFoot fork that I swap out my 6 ply trailer tires or Nanco BF slicks depending on surface
conditions. Obviously thinking I would roll on the BFs at SOBB but thought I'd bring the smaller tires too. I do have one of those triangular pieces
of material stretching from my front fork to under my seat but I'm thinking that is just a good start, but not enough to keep sand out of my grill.
I've got time to work on a fender solution and am looking to hear about how important this is. I like projects like this so I could be easily swayed.
A new project! Thanks in advance for your insights as beach rollers.

I definitely appreciate the fenders on my two buggies. Projects are always good to keep your mind working...
Assuming the tides are decent you can use barrows just fine on the tide washed section. Bigfoot lites, beach racers or speed racers open up the
upper soft part of the beach when the tide is up. The upper section is unrideable with barrows.I find the upper, softer section to be bumpier than
the tide washed section with Bigfoot lites, but bumpy bugging is better than no bugging at all.

Alvord would be the obvious overnight (Or two) on the way. I'll meet you there and overnight as well. Plan a day or more to ride on the playa that
dwarfs Ivanpah.

Cheezy. I will definitely get some pics and do a write up as soon as I get a chance to actually fly them. I work on a ship. As of tomorrow I'll have
been on here for 3 months. But I get off Friday in Tokyo. So hopefully in the next few weeks I can get out and get some flight time with these
beautiful girls. My initial plan is that these are going to be my Alvord Playa kites. Where I can really crank up the speed. Just got me a set of
sysmic linticulers from Van for the Croozer. I'm gearing up to set some new PB's out at Alvord this summer!

Alvord is legendary. I absolutely want to ride it someday. That is a great offer and doing it with you would be a blast. I think this go around I
should stay focused on getting my seat meat to and from Sunset Beach. I do see how I could drive to make that happen (I-80W to Winnemucca, etc.) but
this trip is going to be super long as it is if I want three days in the buggy at Sunset Beach which feels right to me.
I'm thinking drive up to Bend, OR in one shot (something I've done a bunch of times before when our son was a college student at UO) and then finish
out the drive the next day. On the return drive all day on I84 to Boise, ID and then finish out the trip the next day.

UT represents! I was hoping this event would sway you like this. I'm planning on driving up the day after Labor Day as far as Bend, OR and then
complete the journey the following morning. On the return it should work well to push to Boise, ID and then finish out.

You need very little stuff to camp at buggy camp. You can get by with a tent and sleeping bag as a minimum. A great camp kitchen with communal meals,
porta potty, water tap and camp fire all by donation. I have an old tent and sleeping bag I could take for you?
If you prefer a hotel room I highly recommend the City Center Hotel in Seaside. Not at all fancy but clean and an excellent location.
It can be cool and damp some years even if it doesn't rain so warm wet weather clothes are ideal.
