Been A Good Winter So Far!

It's been one of the better winters here in Wisco since 2013/14, if you like cold winters that is. Lot's of good ice this year with little snow. Easy to get around the lakes with a vehicle. Can't beat kiting out of your truck on a cold blustery day. Since this thread has been fairly Quiet for this time of year, thought I'd share an outing from Jan 2nd.
Still using the skis I bought from Windstruck:D Thanks buddy!

Yeah baby yeah! Makes my day to know you are putting those DH skis to their proper use. They were purpose built for just that. Beautiful day and what looks to be huge and spectacular conditions. Nicely played.

That looks super fun Cheddarhead, great video. 60 degrees here today. Safe to assume the ice has melted...

Ever lose the truck? Maybe it's that dot over there... damn, another seagull.

Haha......not yet, although I've temporarily misplaced it after venturing many miles away. Some of the area fishing clubs maintain plowed roads and mark them with old Christmas trees. One tree every 1/10th mile. That helps to navigate your way back.

Good viddy....Good camera angles.

So you drove on the ice and parked?

(... Did that once at Kite Storm in Vermont and used car as warming hut by running engine and heater.)

Ya. Been a good winter so far...

Today:untracked 2 inch wet 'sugar' snow. Don with his Peak ...

Happy to see your getting out Skim:thumbup: Yes, I've been parking on the lakes I'm familiar with. We have almost 18 inches ice on this particular lake. Like you said, it's nice to take a break and warm up in the truck or sit on the tailgate to rest the legs. I'm rather spoiled in that regard.

A little not so known fact - Skimtwashington is short for Ski Mount Washington. Those watching closely will note that I call him Tuck. That is short for Tuckermans Ravine the pitch one skis on Mt Washington. As Tuck has actually skied that ravine puts him far more fearless than me. That is a hair ball pitch usually really icy and rut filled. It is super steep but at least there are tons of jagged rocks at the bottom to crash into. Doh.

I seem to recall seeing a video of someone skiing UP Mount Washington. Was that you as well? Do you have the bumper sticker on the back of your harness?

Squeezed another day out on warm ice . I actually skated under water as over half the lake was puddled with water coverage from melt. I think a few drivers on bordering road were surprised to look out across lake and see a guy being pulled with a kite....... skating on water.

Great conditions(wet) for a crispy water repellent new(few flights) 6.5m NPW Single skin. Launched easy! Winds 7-15mph. Plenty of pull at peak gusts with some light ice skipping(jumps). Weeeeeeeee!

:(:(Too much warmth and lack of freeze is starting to perhaps end the season for local ice...

I relish those flying days here.
