Should I bring my Drysuit?

Hey Guys,

Is the beach on JI particularly wet? Are there puddles and creeks crossing the beach?

it'll be hot and sticky - wear your board shorts. There are a few small drainage shallows as tide goes in and out - you can avoid getting wet or go for it. As the tide comes in and beach narrows there are areas where there is a tidal pool mid beach that starts to fill creating a median - you'll get wet crossing that and all of the sudden some areas that were an inch or two of water are now a foot deep - but that's the fun part!

Trying to find Errol's epic tide pool splash clip.
I agree with Mark. With the afternoon humidity, buzzing the tide pools is quite refreshing.. lol

Lots more room between the water and the dunes at Jekyll. Biggest thing is dodging all those baseball style jellyfish that wash up lol

Sometimes Jekyll Island has some good splashes. But most of them are avoidable. I have two videos that really show both sides of Jekyll from a buggy.

here was the trip from the north tip, down past driftwood, all the way back to base camp and then south to the water tower - all when it was a lower tide so all the little tidal pools are dry (or slick with whale snot)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfeHjZIpfEI&t=694s

ps - i think someone had the problem a while back where they couldn't see any of the video links (hopefully the above link shows for you guys. Anyway about a month ago i can no longer see the videos posted in the forum, just a big white area - I was thinking i needed to update something but so far no luck - what was the trick or what do i need to check?

If the wind is a bit north, and the tide is fully out, you can basically go on the Jekyll Safari to the North. It is very technical, especially around the Driftwood Beach parts, but very worth it. There are miles of beach that don't often get touched with buggies in the north.

2014 was my first time coming, and it hooked me. This is now a yearly tradition for me, and has recently become a tradition for Anna to bring her family as well. I am getting so excited thinking about it!
