Any tips for a first time JIBE attender? Anything should I bring/be prepared for beyond the obvious?

One week before I leave and still no passport. Last week I got my Member of Parliament to call and tell the Home Office to send it back, with luck it
should be here next week. As a backup, I've got an appointment at the US Embassy to get a temporary passport on Thursday.
I also packed everything today and I can't carry nearly as much as I thought. I've had to leave two kites behind and put one wheel in my carry on.
No room for any clothes.
I might be selling a brand new helmet at the end of the week because I can't carry it back unless I wear it on the plane.

Yikes talk about a nail-biter. Good luck with the passport.
Luckily you do not need a lot of clothes here.
Based on recent news headlines you may want to wear the helmet on the plane anyway.

Angus have you had a chance to update the rules and tips for first timers? Some may arrive unaware of their obligations for buying first round and
also providing some type of entertainment at the social night. Last year's skit was hilarious!
We don't want first timers to feel embarrassed so best be prepared!

Thanks!
By the way, how cold does it get at night? I'll be sourcing a cheap sleeping bag and I'm wondering how cheap I can go?

the first time I went to Jekyll I think the low at night was 85 degrees but that was an anomaly- figure that the coldest it will get is in the lower
60s if I had to guess so cheap will work

Current forecasts for average low temps at night on Jekyll next week range from 61-71 F, or 15.5 to 21.5 C. Remember the bug spray just in case

Sunday was crazy windy - SSE 22 kts gusting to 28 kts. Ted and I tore that beach UP. I felt seriously overpowered with the 3.5 - thankfully the

I've started watching next weeks forecast. Looks promising... I was just telling someone today about Angus's secret sea breeze switch that he throws
every day at about lunchtime...
It's been windier than average her in metro ATL too, Jim... I'm hoping it doesn't do that next week, I don't have a high wind engine anymore... I'm
counting on the 6m Peak most every day.
Looking forward to seeing you guys!

From what I can tell, it looks like 10-15mph most of the week. That should be decent breeze for riding, but light enough that thermal action can take
over and turn it onshore most of the week.

Oh man, I am getting so excited! Dude, I am going to be so sore after next week just because I haven't used kiting muscles in almost a full year! My

Fun to watch the message traffic here. Waiting for a CNN news broadcasts like...

southeast coastal Georgia. Analysts are examining signal intelligence from the southeast as well as central, northeast corridor and Atlantic coast.
Additional traffic from Canada, UK and possibly Turkey have alerted international allies...

Haha just thinking of those two sweet gals last year that gave us the fried okra and nacho basket on the patio. Standing there with our faux pineapple

A bed sheet might be enough warmth. It's comfortable sleeping temps at night. When I camped I brought a light fleece blanket but usually kicked it
off.
The no-see-ums can be bad at the camp site. If you are camping bring light-weight pants and a light-weight long-sleeve shirt to keep the little
buggers from nibbling on you.

Jeez man, don't say that! I'm already nervous enough about what the border guard is gonna think when I land, coming from Turkey with a 2 day old
temporary passport carrying 50 kg of what looks like pipe and parachutes. If they give me the rubber glove treatment they are going to find my GPS
cause there's no space left in my luggage and I really want to bring it.

Thanks Philip, I am thinking of just buying a set of sheets rather than a sleeping bag. And I'll bring a long sleeve T shirt for sure.

I have a some extra sleeping space in my motor home.
An overhead bunk for a light weight person. 150lb max.
Have a pullout double bed that can sleep 2.
And a twin bed in the master suite. I also sleep there in the other twin. I snore but will supply ear plugs.
Keurig style K cup Coffee in the morning at no cost and micro/fridge.
I stay at the "Flyin J" at the interstate or at the Wal-Mart in Brunswick at no charge.
The price is right. Also we could split the cost at the JI campground. $45 a night but they have free wifi!
