Flexifoil Rage 4.7

First session today with my Flexifoil Rage 4.7. Winds were mostly steady at 10-15 MPH with a few higher gusts now and then, and the surface that I flew on was grass.

The kite itself feels of very high quality, but I think it is well established that Flexifoil sells well made products. I should add however, that I only have experience with Flexifoil products, and I know that there are a lot of other options in this skill-range available..

I am fairly new to this sport, so I began the session with my Rage 2.5 - to check the winds in real time. It was quite manageable to fly, so out came the 4.7.

It seemed elegant in the air. It was generally slower and had a noticeably 'heavier' feel compared to the 2.5, and it wanted to stall much more easily along the edges of the wind window. Within the widow however - once I determined the boundaries that it liked - it offered plenty of high speed dives, low passes, and climbs.

I don't think that the 4.7 is an ideal kite for light wind training, and I think that it was only getting warmed up in 10-15 MPH winds. I do think that it was very fun - and at times challenging - to fly this kite at this wind speed on a grass surface, and it definitely moved me around.

I only static fly at this stage, and among other things, I like doing so as a form of exercise - which I think is a very valid motivation toward the sport. Overall, I found that the Rage 4.7 can be a very good workout in 10-15 MPH winds, and as long as you know the basics, it will not hurt you at those speeds.

Ocean view from your outside semi-private hotel balcony.

Drive on the beach.

Burning Man.

Nope. Wait. no Burning Man

Sometimes kite reps show w/ demos...But as you see..people let you use their kites too. Maybe sit in buggy and fly...... could easily happen ...
