Sorry about the old tides. Glade someone got it right. Easier to plan with.

Has anyone figured out the day and time for the Pot Luck?

I need some feedback from you fellows. I've been debating what color to offer for this years event shirt and I had a light blub moment....

With safety in mind....

I'm thinking about high visibility colors!

Safety colors are... safety Yellow, safety Orange, safety Pink and Neon Green.

I'll still print the crest print on the front side and a full back print. Black ink is best on any of these colors.

So what do you all think?

Colour is always going to be personal preference but ther is one major kite festival I attend every year that is predominately a show of single line kites and stunt kite demos and there is a side buggy event. Part of the registration gets an event t-shirt which doesn't usually have anything to do with the buggies etc, just the event logo. But in the years that the have been the bright flourescent colours (yellow, green, orange) they had overall gone over better with the single line and stunt fliers and less with the buggy crowd.
For some reason the regular fest participants would wear tie dye, self made and flamboyant clothing - all part of the show and embraced by all but outside the event the buggy gang would say it wasn't really their colour.
Really glad you got a design together - I still haven't seen daylight in several weeks of solid work and I owe favours and really looking forward to getting away and down to see the JIBE family and friends soon. Fiona is here so maybe next week I'll get her to start organizing and cleaning my buggy :-)

Casual colors it is gentlemen.
We are "Buggy Pilots" and we are cool as well as casual.
Tie dyes are for "Hippies" and us "Baby Boomers", what few of us that are left like Ted and me.
Safety colors are for single line kiters, government workers and "Red Necks".
And camo is for "Red Necks" only!
Casual colors it is.

Consider me amped! I believe I'll be needing the stiffer set of shock blocks for the MBS board I'm bringing down... I'll start gps'ing speed this year and get a feel for when to switch out for more stability. The boosting may be some time off in the future yet, we'll see! Can't imagine my Apex providing that sort of float.

For fear of being duck taped up in bubble wrap and dragged behind someone's ride in a 25knot for even mentioning this, what are some favorite "no-wind" options that you all enjoy. I've seen some great SUP excursions up on SSI...

SSI is a great spot just to go hang out too. Lots of great restaurants and shopping. There's also a great put-in to paddle one of the tidal creeks. If you put in at high tide it will take you around the north end of Saint Simons and you can even walk the southern tip of Sea Island. I've done it before in my small 1 man canoe, but as you know it's better in a kayak. There is a kayak tour and rental place (called Souther Outfitters I believe) near the pier. Email me Scott if you want if you have questions. I've spent the second or third week of May on Saint Simons for the last 10 years!

In the AM....SUP/kayak in front or backside is as good as it gets. Bike is an easy default just get things going. Longboard skate at great dunes/pavilion area effortless and ultra smooth, inline skate , walkabout

Hi tide will be in the early AM can be choppy/rolling . Low tide is ideal usually .
I enjoy various tow modalities and general self indulgent buffoonery

If the parking lot isn't too crowded, I'll be driving the Kitefort and parking it daily but won't be setting up and taking a bunch of space BUT the door will be open, AC running, so all are welcome to chill as usual.

See you SOON!

I'm going through my list of things to pack for JIBE and I'm bringing down a few spools of Q-Power line so I can make up a few different lines for myself while I'm there. If anyone needs some lengths of Q-Power (or line sets) let me know and we can run them out.
I'll bring down some 200lb test, 300 lb test and the 600lb Pro

Ask for Robbie - tell him Jim Weldy sent you - he'll charge you double.

Gould's Inlet is an outstanding paddle.

I have three 'yaks for loan - and be glad to lead an informal tour.

There's a great float when the tide is going out those mornings - East Beach Causeway - Postell Creek - Gould's Inlet. - Load out and beat feet to JI for low tide.

It's actually faster to paddle across the Sound to JI than to drive it - but the buggy needs its own boat...and you have to tow it. Damn thing won't paddle.

No overnight parking/security this year. JIA turned down the request for the KiteFort to stay overnight so we will have to take our stuff with us each night.

I will try to get a parking spot early each day so folks can hang out at the Fort though.
