Went across to Western Australia for the land sailing regatta held annually on Lake Lefroy which is a huge salt lake. The surface is rock hard and
quite rough and sharp when you run your finger over it. It's also blindingly white and between the heat and the glare usually had me running for
cover in the middle parts of the day. There was some water around and that changed with the wind. One night a SE'er blew all the water away from one
side of the lake giving myself and Gumnuts several miles of bone dry salt to buggy on. Later in the day, the wind died and the water flowed back - by
sunset it looked like a lake again. There's some footage of the water flowing back at the end of the vid. It was a great trip and I've put a write

Outstanding video John! Really enjoyed it. Seeing the water slowly creeping back was pretty cool. Must have been fantastic to actual see it marching
back. Sunset at the end was spectacular.
I don't know my NS2 colors. What kite was the white and red one you were flying towards the beginning? I still like the NS2 color scheme better than
the NS3 scheme.
So I guess I love the 5.5! So you all know, the reason I believe I like the look of the vertically striped NS2s is because they remind me of a
character from a large format French comic book I used to read as a kid called Asterix. Asterix was the little Viking, and his large trusty sidekick
was Obelix. Check out Obelix's pants!
Nicely done John. Looks otherworldly. Great capture of the water returning back. I don't believe I've ever seen that in any documentary. Perhaps a
phenomena others have missed ?
@ Windstruck, Memories! I remember those comics, my school friends used to read them but I never bothered. I never liked to read, even now.
A few years ago we were racing a 90 minute marathon on the lake with landyachts and we had a bloke on each upwind marker cone shifting it in to keep
ahead of the water returning. Each lap got a bit shorter.
It is really cool to see a bone dry area be a lake in a matter of hours.
The lake is 550 square kilometres in area of surface like shown in John video when dry.
@windstruck- Asterix and obelix were the best, grew up reading the stories in Italy. I remember always wishing I could drink the juice from the
caldron.

Another set of similar "comic" books I used to devour as a kid were The Adventures of Tintin. These and the Asterix were in English of course; I
couldn't speak or read any other languages back then.
