Just a little name change

I really think we need to get this out there right off the top - even just briefly - to explain the history of naming our event. When we decided to start Ivanpah Buggy Blast, we considered the possibility that NABX would continue to operate as a separate event. We talked about potential names for our event. Everyone really liked the name Ivanpah Buggy eXpo with the initials IBX. It's easy to say, and gives nice options to use in graphics.
As a gesture of respect to the organizers of NABX, we decided to go with our second choice of IBB. When the subject came up on social networks, it was indicated that the gesture and consideration were appreciated. Since then, the organizers of NABX have elected to no longer have organized events, eliminating the limitation we placed on ourselves initially. IBX will continue with our original goal of providing a reliable event that you can count on year after year on Ivanpah Dry Lake.

Good winds to all, and see you on the Playa!

An old friend told me once "You'll learn more about buggying and kiting in a week at Ivanpah than you will learn in a year at home". And he was right. It's a place all landkiters should ride at least once.

Just kidding

Would LOVE to come out, but I just can't... Pretty happy with JI :D... If ever I can swing it, I definitely will... Thanks for the invite!!!

The Folks at NABX used to sponsor riders from Europe to come over and skool us. If IBX ever got the funds built up it would be nice to see that again. That is money better spent than on a scholarship.

We all kicked in to give Rich from WBB a taste of west coast style at SOBB. Trouble is he is an old dog who won't learn new tricks. Actually it was great having him.

Blade, with 180 participants and double the fees charged, supplementing travel expenses for "talent" would be easy. Heck it might even be possible with 180 participants at current fees. As it is, we coasted out of 2014 with a bank account that didn't need a helping hand, but it couldn't buy a kite either. We were thrilled that the event was able to pay it's bills and end in the black. We will continue to try to provide a fun event at an awesome venue and hope it will grow to something big.

Soliver, no missed intentions here. We really hope IBX grows to the point that we don't have to charge a registration fee at all. That is one of our long term goals. We will feel our way along the growth curve and see where it leads us.

What I would really like to see is the kite / buggy / ATB companies coming back.

I expect they are on the fence about support until they see the event is solid. I really missed them. Big Prop's to HQ and Revolution for continuing to support the event through this transition period.

I sent a message to PL after last years event telling them how much I missed their attendance and assuring them that the event is being run in a professional manor. I hope they will come back around.

I wonder how much Ozone will want to get involved now that they are out of the FB game ?

Ken, why would you call PL when the US Rep for PL ran the show and didnt promote his own company?

Flexboardz. Blokarts.
PKD Century Soulflys. NPW's. Nasa Stars.
A few other less flown oddballs,
Line sets from 10" to 328" or 2m to 100m.
worlds only AQR that works.

I really missed the contributions that PL (and other companies ) made to the previous event. PL in particular with my archaholic nature. I felt that sending the message up the line would have more value than just telling Brian, and I DID tell Brian.

I truly don't know why PL chose not to get involved but suspect they didn't want to get behind a start up event that had no track record and a shaky start? I wanted them to know how well run the event was.

Jeff, I am no longer the Rep for PL. That was in motion before the event took place. The film industry takes up most of my time. So unfortunately, I had to make the tough decision to step down.

Ken had spoke with me regarding this and I had been in touch with them. He is probably right, they likely didn't want to get involved till they saw the event was stable. We now have the right Team. Stephan van Bommel will be attending next year, We are in good standings with the BLM after holding our event, and all of our records are transparent. With this considered and with the Success of last years event, we hope other riders from Europe will follow suit.
