hi guys!
i decided im going for ion radar since i tried it and it felt good:http://www.powerkiteshop.com/ion_radar_harness.htm
Blade, how will i know if kite is fully airfilled (for the first time)?
Could i get some tips for a start "in land"kiting?i suppose i should start with the lowest wind possible( 5m-7m/h) and with manually decrased power of my kite ,right? im asking just in case if i wont be able to see redsky soon and my kite curiosity will take over:))

Try and do a search online for an Arc manual.

I kind of missed the Venom line . If I am correct Venom 1 only has a center fill zipper ( like my Phantom ) . Venom 2 has fill zippers on the tips. If you have a center fill I fill the bottom as much as possible. Roll the air up to the top of the kite and then fill the bottom again. If it is tip filled I fill it, push the air down to the far end and then top it off.

I blower is real handy at 1st.

It is full when it is full and looks like a giant mattress .

Even filled you don't hot launch downwind. Launch is done at and angle . Lifting the downwind tip until it catches air. The kite then slips up and into shape sitting at the edge of the window. Look for a video of a launch it is much easier to understand.

CarlTB is a master of arcs from your side of the pond. Search his instructional videos.

Here is a pretty outdated set up video but most applies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dZihDQYA1w

i have a scrub predator 2. im 6'4 180 -190 lbs. its more than the physco 2 but i wanted a longer board with being tall, its not as light but could maybe take more punishment when jumping? but im a way off jumping, i got no one to teach me bar my own mistakes so learning is taking a while longer. have yet to upgrade to depower kites also. i fly hq scouts which i use an old tree climbing harness with if im feeling so inclined.

Judging by the images here : https://www.google.ca/search?q=ion+radar+harness&tbm=isc...

You run the strap up over your spreader as a comfort option ?

I met with royal at the beach today to help him fly his new (old) 13mVenom.

One of the leg straps on his harness had been threaded through a ring on the spreader bar. It clearly didn't look right and looked worse still when he wore it causing him some serious discomfort.

We undid the strap through the ring and it was then working normally. My guess is that it may have been passed through the ring to help minimize its size for mailing purposes. Either that or someone at the factory was new.

royal' first go on the Venom went very well. I think the auto zenith really helped him. He even did a few scuds and a couple of bunny hops.

The wind was a clean and steady 20mph, maybe a touch more at times.
I did all the launching and landings but I must admit I had some trouble. The first attempt to launch was faultless but thereafter the kite would not get off the ground so easily after landing and it would move back across the window in the hot launch position with both wing tips touching until it was directly downwind and frighteningly in the power!

Sometimes it would double over and bow-tie too.

Was I using too much power on the trim and thus back-stalling the kite ?
Back stalling happened a few times only when I was at the controls because I preferred a bit more power.
I suspect the kite doesn't enjoy too much power on the trim?

or maybe I had positioned myself wrong. I understand from YouTube that you need to be at a 45 degree to the kite for launch. It is possible that I was more or less than 45.

I think I have the landing down but just to clarify and assuming you're flying alone, do you get the kite down close to the ground at the edge of the window and then pop the safety, letting it drift along the ground until it's flagged out?

I exclusively ride with LEI's and I'm unfamiliar with these kites. I need to get this perfected so I can practice with royal before I feel comfortable that he can do this alone. We are both in need of enlightenment. I remember having the same issues with my 16m Venom which I briefly owned many years back.

Apart from this one issue the kite flew great and we had a lot of fun with it. I'm just hoping royal doesn't come on here and mention my quick release test that failed and the subsequent chase for the kite and I especially hope he bites his tongue regarding my loop of death or more accurately my loop of shame. That would be an embarrassing admission to make here. :D

Thanks!
Always learning...

Sorry , I thought that method up through the spreader was odd but found a picture of it that way?

Yes, I launch with my trim about 80% in. Arc thrive on moving on the front lines but watch out for overfly when static.

If the kite is clammed and downwind I walk the edge of the window and the tug front lines to point the nose into the wind.

On launch I just may go a bit more that 45' upwind and pull the front lines gently at the trim strap. It depends on the wind. Less than 45' if the wind is strong and I really want it to stick to the edge.

It is so good you 2 can work this out together. I can't tell you the fun I had alone with an Farc as my 1st arc.

No problem, you're just trying to help which is much appreciated and besides I didn't see your post until after the session, so our mistake.

Thanks for the tips. Tugging those front lines from the trim strap makes sense. I do that with my LEI's but why I didn't think to do that at the time I don't know.

Sorry bro, can't do Wednesday. I can only get out weekends. Let me know when.

Did you like my inverted one eighty downloop power-scud with tuck & roll to swollen knee finish?

Next time we get us some serious airtime. I'll adjust the power strap internals for improved bar pressure, AoA and float.

Make sure the chicken is hooked up and the donkey tooled in, then we can safely activate the QR2 on the 'oh-$h*t' flagout otherwise the parapacking FB boys downwind won't know what hit 'em.

Word up.

hi Gusy,im back here to grab so tips and hints:)
basically ive been using my venom in land for a couple of times.wind was steady 10-15pmh.i often was loosing kites power at zenith which was resulting in my arc falling folded down towards strongest power zone ..Evry time i tried to recover it before it hitting the ground and succesfully it was happening but kite was picking power very qquickly which was obvious and was about to dengerously pull me and probbably going to hurt... so the qqqquestion is HOW CAN I AVOID THIS? i dont want to relunch kite every time it (suddenly) falls of the sky but then dont want to hurt myself once kite gets into strong power zone right beanth zenith..

Hey Peter, long time no see.
There's been very little wind about recently. I suspect that even in a steady 10-15mph it might not be enough to keep you 13m Venom kite from stalling.
You need more wind.

James and I might be out this weekend depending in the wind. You're welcome to join us. :)

Royal how are getting on with your Venom? I have a Venom I 13m and a 15m Synergy. I have been spanked badly by the Synergy. I had it out in variable winds (I am inland - Hertfordshire) probably around 8mph gusting to15mph.

It kept dropping into the power from the zenith and then powering up. Sounds like you experienced the same thing? I ended up with a broken thumb :(

I think I know the answer... need more wind.

But, the sheer size of the 15m Synergy, I really don't want to even get it out of the bag in anything over 10mph. It scares the crp out of me.

For now I'm sticking with my new Flysurfer Peak 6m to get me started on my landboard.

I'd be interested to hear how you are getting on!
