Hey Sailors,
Kinda crazy weather, what?
El Mirage is under water and closed for the Labor Day Holiday.
(so is Ivanpah, but that doesn't concern us right now)

Another weather system is forecast for the holiday weekend.

It is entirely possible the lake bed will remain wet for another week.

We might want to work on Plan B...
Moving the date of the Thang to the following weekend - September 13-14-15, 2013.

I am keeping a close watch on weather conditions, but like the wind... it doesn't listen to me.

I hope this doesn't disrupt things too much, but it really is beyond our mortal means to change it.

I thought the lama had special powers with such things! :D Nice visiting you and Ben today Corey.

My fingers are crossed to maintain the original weekend since my schedule takes a double whammy for the next weekend. Wife is out of town along with a baseball tournament for my younger son. The plan A weekend is like I waved my arms and parted the sea to open up my schedule. Actually it looks like the sea I was parting was on all our favorite lakebeds.

Let's see what happens.

Red Lake got wet today too this afternoon. I'm not sure about Harper's.

Hey Sailors,

It hadn't rained for the first 15 years we had this event.
It's only these last few years that we've had to deal with this.

Weather reports for the coming two weeks have a chance of precip over the coming weekend (Sept. 7th & 8th)and into the first few days of next week.
Hopefully the last of the week will have temps over 100 degrees and southerly winds that CAN (and I do stress that "can") dry the lakebed in time for us to do our Thang.

I'll have a definitive answer no later than Wednesday, Sept. 11th.

Being frustrated by the weather is silly. We have no control.
Mom said to #@%$#! and moan only about stuff that #@%$#!ing and moaning will change.

I hope I'll see a few of you, if the weather allows, at Elmer's soon.

Why cancel.....if you plan it they will come.
Ramji2 and coreykite bring out a good point, we need to be patient.....the lakebeds will dry out in time, they always do
This weekend was beyond good for me, but oh well....I can still make it work.

Hey Sailors,

The latest from the El Mirage Info line is that the lake bed is closed.
Wet patches still exist and all scheduled events are canceled.

(Did anyone notice that the SCTA was planning to race on Sunday?)

The Buggy Boogie Fall Thang is canceled.

I cannot, in good faith, expect folks to wait patiently without any idea of how long it might be before the surface allows us back.

Not to worry.. We'll do it again, soon.
