About the Bego 600...

I'm real interested to buy your Bego.

I read several good reviews about it. But the thing that was mentioned several times was the sensitivity of the turning using break lines to complete the turns.

Did you get this problem solved ??? The proper length of line to the break knots on the bridle with the rings? The ring thing is a little confusing but I'll figure it out one day.

I guess if I purchased your Bego I would be the 3rd owner? Just how old is this wing?

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Sensitivity to turning on the brake lines should not be viewed as a bad thing. Its just that the kite isn't front line bias. You can turn it with simple pull turns but it responds better (faster) to brake turns or combo pull / brake turns.

There is no problem to solve you just need to get used to how the kite likes to be flown. Tuning (length and position of rings / pulleys) can take a bit but its easily sorted in 10 minutes on a good, low wind day.

I own and have tuned begos.

I will post pics Saturday. (hopefully) I have been working sun up to sun down and taking pics in the dark usually doesn't help

B-Roc is dead on with what he said about turning. I found that the Bego turns best with a little pull and brake input. It turns VERY well for a 6m kite. Will pull/brake input, it turns on a wingtip! LOVE IT! I'm the 3rd owner of this one. The person I got it from used it maybe twice and I've put maybe 5 or 6 flights on her. Not sure of the age but I do know it's been a little bit since these have been made.

The sail material is some of the nicest stuff you'll ever see and the craftsmanship is top notch. As long as it was well maintained, it could be owned by 5, 10, 15, etc owners and it would still be in fantastic condition. The kite is heavily bridled (not a bad thing) compared to stricly race kites (which begos can compete with in terms of design and speed (to an extent).

They really are awesome kites. Way ahead of their time with the riff-raff (sliding wingtip line) system and their projected A/R is just insane. Too bad they weren't ever really further developped.

Hey, I have the exact same Bego. Was boarding with it yesterday in measured 5mph winds. True low wind weapon.

I can't believe the Bego is still here at that price. It is easily worth 2x what you are asking.

Summer is coming people. Never be skunked again.

These kites are hard to come by and harder to come by in good condition.

Don't let this deal pass you by.

Begos are phenomenal and in the day they were known to be the most powerful kite per meter.\

True low wind weapon. For comparisons, I sold my 8.5 blade III when I bought my 600. The 600 is so light and maneuverable it way outperformed the 8.5 with no loss to the low end range and better high end range.

Sorry, maybe a stupid question, but I'm not very familiar with this kite.
Can you use this kite on water too ? Also, i'm assuming the Bego size is 6m, am I correct ?

Thanks

P.S - can you post some link with info/video about it ? I just can't find a normal one.

This is an open celled foil. 600 = 6m, 400 = 4m, 200 = 2m.

Here is my review of the 400. The same holds true for the 600. http://www.racekites.com/2007/09/2034/

Here are general reviews of the 600 http://www.racekites.com/?s=MAC+bego

Here are some videos (not mine) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrSyTJ0UcFk

Ok, I will have to see how my paycheck looks tomorrow, and make a decision from there. I am just getting into power kiting, and currently have a PL VibeII 2.6m, and looking to get a larger kite to maybe start jumping a bit.

The Vibe is a fun kite no doubt, I have a 1.6m too. Have to remember, 4 liners are much different than the 2 line you are used to flying. If you are just getting into the sport, please please please please please take the word "jumping" out of your vocabulary. I am living proof that jumping when first getting into the sport is a bad idea. Look over the forums here and see for yourself.

What are the typical winds in your area? How much do you weigh? What type of surface will you be flying on? These are all questions that can help us steer you into the best next step in kite choice :)
