I swore last year I would cut back on my on the length of my JIBE fiesta. You guys are not helping. I'm loosing my resolve to drive after work on Wednesday. I might have to do the Wednesday 8 a.m. departure again.

I suppose I would be nothing short of miserable having to go to work that day knowing the fun had begin without me. I would be unproductive. It would be unfair to my employers. So for their sake I should leave town at sunrise on Wednesday.

Wednesday does seem non-committal doesn't it? Why do something only half-way?

Not sure about a base but there is a campground on Jekyll that some of the guys utilize. :)

Nor sure what you mean by a "base" but there are numerous hotel options as specified in the web site. You cannot sleep in your camper in the parking lot; you must use the campground for that option. There will be on camper in the parking lot over nights but that will be for guarding the buggies and that is by special arrangement and permission from the Jekyll Island Authority that administers the island state park.

Reach me if you have any questions or need assistance

think he means military installation............................is the sub base open in St. Marys? Jacksonville NAS would be the closest (don't forget soap on a rope)............... this is an hour or so away form JI and with the $$$ of gas it would probably be cheaper to stay in Brunswick at exit 29................................

Definitely consider the Jekyll Island campground. It's heavily shaded so mornings are cool. Night temps in mid-May are good too.

The only downside at the JI Campground is the no-see-ums can be a bit thirsty. I bring long pants and longs sleeve shirts to combat that.

I'll be reserving my site pretty soon. We usually go for something in the H and F zones.

Sleeping in vehicles is allowed. The few unsavory rules they have don't seem to be enforced.

As far as I can tell the only real rule is "don't be an annoying drunk".
