My first NAPKRA buggy races

dylanj423 - 3-5-2009 at 07:39 AM

What a great weekend... I just got back from bugggying and KGB'ing at San Luis Pass. My muscles hurt, I landed my first real ATB jumps, set a new speed record for myself, and participated in my first buggy races.

Friday winds were light... a chance to take out asome of the bigger kites and get them cleaned up and ready for the summer. Set up camp... talk with some other kiters. I would be hard pressed to find a nicer group of people anywhere, I think. From what i know, kiters everywhere are as cool.

My only regret is not taking more equipment... live and learn, I guess. I had a kite that (IMO) was one size too small, and the next step up that I had was too much. My 2.5 Cent still did pretty well. Good buggy engine.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has contributed to my kiting, thanks to everyone at the NAPKRA races, and thanks to PKF in general. My life is richer in many ways from flying kites.

Sounds like you had a way cool weekend. I've been kiting for over 20 years, and kiters by far are the friendliest. Do you think a offroader would just hand over the keys to his/her prized 4x4 or motorcross bike? Kiters will gladly pass the handles.

True... we we're just so busy having fun I never had the time to hand him a Scorpion :tumble:

Excellent Weekend of Racing

I just wanted to personally thank everyone for coming out and participating in the 8 races this weekend. I don't think we could have asked for much better weather on Saturday and the very fun and technical course that was set up it challenged everyone. I also want to thank everyone who helped out putting on the races, photographing and videoing the action, supplying the food and cooking too. It seems each time we get together for the races we have more fun than the last time, and more new pilots participate and others get much better at racing and honing their skills. It is a pleasure to help organize and get these races for Club 13 going. Everyone that participated had a great time and a number of them really surprised themselves with their skill level. I look forward to the next event.

Enough so that I want to move to Texas now... Well, maybe not quite yet *smile*, but just about. Great to hear it though and still working and hoping we can get racing going on here too.
