Where to fly around Boston?

lodgerdodger - 5-3-2009 at 08:55 AM

I just got my first kite (small dual line) in the mail, and I'm ready to go out this weekend to try it out for the first time, and with temps in the 50's!! (That's t-shirt weather for us New Englander's)

Anyone know any good places I can go? I live in Brookline, so I was thinking Larz Anderson park, though there may be too many people there. Maybe Castle Island? I was also thinking of going to Nantasket Beach or if I have to down to Dennis. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

all the spots you mentioned are fine and other local haunts are Nahant Beach, Pope John Paul Park, Franklin Park and any local field with clean wind and not much people traffic.

I'm hoping to do some kite skiing before all the new snow melts away.

Depending on your relative location to Boston, and the phase of the moon (fighting with folks on their way to the malls) it is sometimes less grief to get to Breton Point State Park or Colt State Park. Both are on the Northern edge of RI.

Some other MA locations besides the ones already listed along with directions and short descriptions of them can be found here:

Great, thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to try millenium park on saturday, it's huge! If any experience flyers want to show me up, I'll probably head there in the late AM.
